  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you could not be an Anglican or did not have access to an Anglican parish or body that you found acceptable which denomination would you choose?

I lean toward Lutheran although I find the feel and culture of it very different from my Anglican experience and definitely prefer the Anglican formularies over all those confessions. I don't think I would ever really be a Lutheran. Maybe Old Catholicism would work, although I have no personal experience of it so I primarily lean toward Lutheranism should I have to choose another denomination.
Considering the ECLA is in communion with the ECUSA and they have similar values and theology they'd likely be my choice.

The combination of liturgy and freedom of thought was so wonderful and unexpected when I found the Episcopal church -- I don't know where else I could find that. The ELCA would be one natural place to start looking.

My beliefs about daily Christian life are very close to those of the Quakers, so I would also consider joining them. Except that I would desperately miss the liturgy.

The Quakers have been an important part of life, but no my church life.

As is the case with you, liturgy is missing in the prayer gatherings. My choice over the past couple of years has been between TEC, ELCA and the Roman Catholic Church.
