  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Typically the New Revised Standard Version.
I have also seen the Revised Standard Version and the English Standard Version used in parishes.

The Episcopal Church approves all the following for liturgical use:
New Revised Standard Version
Revised Standard Version
New International Version
New American Bible
New English Bible
Revised English Bible
Good News Bible
Jerusalem
New Jerusalem
King James

I love the New English Version, and that used (circa 1980 to be the standard lectionary bible in Canada for people who didn't want to use the AV; but Americans and American-TV-educated Canadians found the British language inaccessible -- so we typically use the NRSV now.

I attend two Anglican Churches - the evangelical one uses the NIV and the Anglo-Catholic one uses the NJB.

Personally i use the REB in devotions which is such a stunning translation i can't understand why it's not more popular.

My church used the NRSV, I think.

I personally use lots of different Bibles. I've also got the Oxford Annotated NRSV, but I've also got KJ, NKJ, Good News, and for my purse the NLT (New Living Translation). It's not actually as good a translation, but the Bible itself is small and comes in a metal case so it doesn't get beat up since when I tried to carry a normal Bible in purse the pages always got bent and beat up.

I speak and lead worship from the ESV, however it's not a standard that we can use for the lectionary readings, so we use the NIV (which I don't like.) The NRSV is the other standard but costs more for pew bibles so we went with the NIV... I think that says as much about St. H's as I need to...
