For me there's no question: Bob Dylan. Then again, I probably don't appreciate Johnny Cash as much as I should.

Give some of his American Recordings material a listen sometime. I think you might be surprised. I think American IV: The Man Comes Around is the most powerful (especially the title track), as it was done closest to his death, but there are some really fantastic songs throughout the other three albums as well.

Actually, I have alot of the material that came out of the Dylan & Cash sessions too. I would give anything to have been there in the studio with those two. I would have been speechless.
