• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wheres Fair?Ive seen pics of those African citizens sitting on the ground with flies al around them. The guy has never had a decent meal and is suseptible to many diseases. My point is ,I live in a very nice neighberhood and I don't see how it's fair that he lives in Africa and I live in this great country. So I wanted to hear peoples opinions about life after death. My father is a strong believer that what you do in on life will decide how your next life is.He also believes that this will occur untill you have learned all of lifes lessons. So anywho , I just wanted to hear your opinion on this topic! :priest: :priest:   :help:

God bless all of you!

Hi Christian
A good book to read that has a good answer is "The case for Faith" by Lee strobel. He does some interviews with professors, philosophers and such. It has some good answers that you might be looking for.

Namaste all,

christian, thank you for the topic post.

fair... what does this word mean? usually, it is used to mean that everyone has an equal opportunity and are treated the same, without regard to rank or station.

in reality, however, we find that "fairness" is a concept which is not to be found in most areas of our life.

from the Buddhist point of view, of course, this is due to ones karmic factors and influences and these things determine the relative "good" or "bad" of ones life.

here's sort of how we frame the question:

Perplexed by the seemingly inexplicable, apparent disparity that existed among humanity, a young truth-seeker approached the Buddha and questioned him regarding this intricate problem of inequality:

"What is the cause, what is the reason, O Lord," questioned he, "that we find amongst mankind the short-lived and long-lived, the healthy and the diseased, the ugly and beautiful, those lacking influence and the powerful, the poor and the rich, the low-born and the high-born, and the ignorant and the wise?"

The Buddha’s reply was:

"All living beings have actions (Karma) as their own, their inheritance, their congenital cause, their kinsman, their refuge. It is Karma that differentiates beings into low and high states."

He then explained the cause of such differences in accordance with the law of cause and effect.

Certainly we are born with hereditary characteristics. At the same time we possess certain innate abilities that science cannot adequately account for. To our parents we are indebted for the gross sperm and ovum that form the nucleus of this so-called being. They remain dormant within each parent until this potential germinal compound is vitalised by the karmic energy needed for the production of the foetus. Karma is therefore the indispensable conceptive cause of this being.

The accumulated karmic tendencies, inherited in the course of previous lives, at times play a far greater role than the hereditary parental cells and genes in the formation of both physical and mental characteristics.

a lot of how a nation and people fair is determined on who they serve, is their God the true God or do they serve a false god. a nation that serves the true God will be blessed and a nation that serves a false god will be curesd. the curse will not always mean a people will not prosper it could mean that they will never have God or see His kingdom. Israel was supposed to accept Jesus and evangelize the world (the romans would have put Jesus on the cross as an example of rebellion) they did not accept Jesus so God had to turn to someone else to evangelize the world so God caused america to be , and we did what israel was to do and we got israels blessing, we became the greatest nation on earth. i hope this helps u
