• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where we going???

I'm sure this Q. has been thrown before. I haven't seen it though, so i'm posting it again, (perhaps). "What do you believe happens to us when we 'expire' "? Heaven, Worm food, New Creation, Animal, etc? What do you think? Thanks.

I've never seen any evidence that convinces me of an afterlife. So, I think that when we die our existence is done. As I've seen somewhere else on these boards, it'll be like it was before you were born.

Comforting though the concept of an afterlife is, I think it's just wishful thinking. So I'm going with worm food (unless you're cremated which I'd prefer).

However there is the whole thing of there being a fixed amount of energy in the universe - that it cannot be created or dstroyed, only converted into another form - and since all we are, essentialy, is energy then maybe that gets converted itnto something else. If this is the case, I still do not think our conscious selves go with it though.

That wasn't very articulate but I hope you see what I'm trying to get at. :p

John 14:4: And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
If u r living the New Life your corruptible body willbe replaced by a incorruptible one.
If u r at home (satisfied) in this body, you are away from The Lord.

I have a few ideas of my own, and a few things that I'd like to happen. I know if I get reincarnated what I'd like to be, though. Likely, i'd say if ANYTHING it's either

Reincarnation (Which would be pretty cool)
Whatever you believe in during your lifetime happens in the afterlife(So you go to Valhalla, Hell, Heaven, Nirvana, wherever (Which would be slightly-less cool)

But most likely that's 'it' for us. We probably aren't going anywhere. We're probably worm food. But no one can say for sure. After all, no one makes it out of death(and life for that matter) alive.

.

Now, that just seems silly to me. What I believe determines where I go? No, no, ya got it backwards, man. What I believe does not shape reality. Reality is what it is, whether I believe it or not.

Of cause, the thought itself is weirdly intriguing, don't you think?
The Christian who dies (and hopes to go to heaven, naturally) ends there... the Asatruar has his dreams come true by taking a seat - and a horn of mead - in Valhalla (though not everyone of "us" wants to end up there)... the Buddhist enters the state of Nirvana...

...who knows? :D
