  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can Jesus be both the Lion and the Lamb?

1. Lions have really big heads, and lambs have really little heads
2. Lions are brown and lambs are white

This proves incontrovertably that Christ was was ONLY a lamb because having a big head means that you're not very humble, and Jesus was very humble considering He was God in the flesh, and at the transfiguration the Bible records that his clothes were whiter than could be bleached, NOT sandy brown like mean lions have. If everyone just rightly divided everything in the bible into two mutually exclusive groups like the King James says this would be clear enough to understand without dispensationalists like myself having to cut and paste enormous sections of Strong's online to clear things up. Thank you everyone for wasting my valuable time.

What I was trying to imply was that just as Christ can be the lion of the tribe of Judah, He can be at the same time the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. In the same way that the eternal Church can be spoken of as Christ's body at some times and His bride at others. Dispensationlalism is a trajedy in that it elevates the fleshly covenants to the level of the spiritual realities that they were ment to be a mere descripiton of. There is only one spiritual Israel and only one true Church these two are the same thing.

Hi Dave:

What I was trying to imply was that just as Christ can be the lion of the tribe of Judah, He can be at the same time the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. In the same way that the eternal Church can be spoken of as Christ's body at some times and His bride at others.

Woo horsey . . . There is no such thing as any ‘eternal church’ in God’s Living Word, as those two terms do NOT even appear together (eternal church) in a single Bible verse; nor even in the same verse separately. Period. Jesus Christ is gathering the “Bride” (John 3:29) by preaching the "Gospel of the Kingdom" (Matt. 4:23, 9:35 = Gospel #1 here) LONG before He ever died for anyone. The “Body of Christ” (Eph. 4:12) is the “His BODY” Church (Col. 1:24 = Church #2 here) that begins with the Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:15-16) having NOTHING to do with Peter’s Kingdom ‘Bride’ at all. In fact, Paul never uses the term ‘bride’ (nymphe #3565) anywhere within his Epistles to the Gentiles. NASB.

Dispensationlalism is a trajedy in that it elevates the fleshly covenants to the level of the spiritual realities that they were ment to be a mere descripiton of.

Wrong. Dispensationalism (dispensation = Vine's) explains the reasons that God deals with the members of different households/administrations in very different ways. Israel of the flesh ‘is’ under Mosaic Law (Matt. 5:18), just like the Disciples of Peter’s Kingdom “Bride.” James 2:10. However, the members of Christ’s BODY (1Cor. 12:27 = that's us) are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:14. Scripture is ‘divided’ into three distinct witnesses of Spirit (OT for Israel), Blood (Pauline Epistles for the “Body”) and Water (Kingdom Epistles for the “Bride”), as demonstrated in this diagram. The “Body of Christ” has no part of any ‘covenant’ at all, as we have been ‘baptized into Christ’ (Gal. 3:27) to be ‘crucified’ with Christ (Gal. 2:20) to be raised up with Christ (Col. 3:1-3) to be seated with Him in the heavenly places that are IN Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6). We have lives hidden “with Christ IN GOD” (Col. 3:3) and have no need of any marriage supper like the Kingdom Bride (Rev. 19:5-10). We have no need of any New Covenant to be made with the houses of Israel and Judah (Heb. 8:8-12), because ‘we’ are IN Christ Jesus even now. :0)

There is only one spiritual Israel and only one true Church these two are the same thing.

Wrong. Paul spends a lot of time distinguishing “Israel” from our mystery “His BODY” Church, saying,

“What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith; but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone . . .”. Romans 9:30-32.
The members of “Christ’s Body” (Church #2 here) obtain the righteousness OF GOD (Rom. 10:1-4, 1:16-17) “apart from the Law” (Rom. 3:21-26), while Israel stumbled over Christ to receive the ‘spirit of stupor’ (Rom. 11:8) to sit on the sidelines under blindness (Rom. 11:25). Since Israel is being made “jealous” (Deut. 32:21, Rom. 10:19, 11:11), then you cannot simply toss these ‘two groups’ into your single doctrinal pot. No sir. Paul describes Israel in Romans 9:1-5 ‘and’ our mystery church (named according to Isaac) in Romans 9:6-8 as the children of Promise.

In Christ Jesus,

Terral
