It is, to a certain degree, a Rorschach blot, or a mirror of the person reading it.
People who are inclined to universal love can see that in it, while people who are inclined to tribalism will read that in the text. In a strange way, the text itself constitutes a judgment:
"Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." - Matthew 7:1-2
Christians interpret scripture, in many, many different ways.
Yes. People tend to interpret scripture, in a way that is comfortable to their own unique personal psychological needs.
IMO, and to repeat my main point, what tends to be preferable, is what meets with each person's needs.
You do realize, priests interpret scripture in many different ways as well?
And I am quite certain, they all likely feel their interpretation is correct.
I bet you love going around telling children that Santa doesn't exist, don't you?
However, I am not a child so kindly don't talk to me as if I am.
That is what ministers are for. If I suspect that I am interpreting Scripture to please myself, I check with a priest.
2002 [DS 3402] 2. The Church’s interpretation of the Sacred Books is not indeed to be spurned, but it is subject to the more accurate judgment and the correction of exegetes.
2004 [DS 3404] 4. The magisterium of the Church, even by dogmatic definitions, cannot determine the genuine sense of the Sacred Scriptures.
The foregoing 2 statements are condemned errors of modernism addressed by Pope St. Pius X over a century ago. They are copied from an English translation of Denzinger's Sources of Catholic Dogma, available online. There are other statements of the Church regarding the proper interpretation of Holy Scripture. Like good parent, the Church wishes to guard all Her children from error and deceptions.

Jesus Christ had the audacity to say...
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - John 14:6
I would not want to try eternity without him! If the Bible has it right, then the three-time heavyweight boxing champion is now coping with something far, far worse than Parkinson's disease.
And boy, did he tick off the fundies when he said that.
Try the Anglican communion, then I might be impressed.
But good try.
Unless you've recently become God recently, then it's really neither your place nor business.

"Can. 1324 It is not enough to eschew heretical depravity, but those errors also must be carefully avoided which more or less closely approach heresy; and for this reason all must observe those constitutions and decrees by which the Holy See proscribes and forbids such perverse opinions."
"St. Thomas More & St. John Fisher: Pray for this woman!"
Rockytopva states the position of Christians simply. Neither he nor I need to become God in order to quote Him. As a matter of fact Christians are bound to correct error and to teach truth.Unless you've recently become God recently, then it's really neither your place nor business.

Indeed both were martyred by heretics for refusing to denounce their Christianity! My point precisely.Nice try, but both were Roman Catholic marytrs. They were not Anglicans.
Meanwhile, suggest I am heretic again and you go straight to ignore without passing Go.

Cassius Clay Jr. was baptized by lead of his Baptist mother so Rockytopva is again spot on.
Speculating on or judging the eternal disposition of anyone's soul, however, is going too far and should be avoided by Christians.
Football players are now reputed to suffer brain damage from recurring trauma to their brains. Does anyone doubt that boxers would incur similar brain damage? I certainly don't.
Someone I respect warned "Don't box with God; your arms are too short."
Makes sense to me.
