Where do you see yourself in five years?

Life changes fast, and I've learned the hard way that mapping out my own destiny doesn't work... but I think it's reasonable for us to have goals or visions for ourselves, ways that we understand the Lord's will for our lives.

So, where do you see yourself in five years? Professionally, personally, etc?

I see myself already done with college and being apart of a ministry or starting one with others. If it is God's will I see myself married to a pastor and we will have a new ministry (or planning to) that reaches out to the homeless, hurting teens, and the needy. But other then that, God has his own plans for my future. :)

I will have passed President and gone straight to KING!!!

Actually,

3 years, done with Masters in Finance.

If the renter is serious about her "yes", and I have the lease signed soon, in three years I'll be refinancing my condo for either cheap living or profit.

So in 5 years, who knows, but somewhere farther along in my plans to 1. save money 2. build equity 3. finish school 4. transition to finance career 5. lose fat / build muscle.

Nu-uh, because I will be Empress!

But as for me, I see myself in a new location, preferably close to friends and family, but perhaps just a little larger than the area I'm in now, with a little more social and cultural diversity.

I'd like to own a modest home. I live in a manse now, which is great, but I'd like to be building up equity.

I see myself with some health issues resolved and thus having greater energy for my ministry.

Maybe there will be a guy in the picture... maybe not. It would be nice to have a partner in life and service, but then again I'm able to serve with greater freedom as a single person.

Oh yeah, and I want to be known far and wide as the best American ever to cook Indian food. :p

Fat, happy and content;).

Professionally- Possibly gone back to school and completed a Masters in International Development. Working for some international NGO while living in Botswana, Costa Rica, <insert your own country here>.

Personally-Maybe married. Maybe not.

Spiritually- Definitely closer to God than I am now, because our relationship SHOULD be growing, right?

Financially- I don't know..but making enough for me to travel wherever I want, however I want.

Heh...me, too! That's why I don't really "see" myself in any particular place. There are things I'd like to do, such as finish college and get married, but I don't know if that's what God wants for me. So, we'll see

I love your Frasier quote, by the way. That's one of my all-time favorite shows!

Where I see myself in five years:

I will be 35 and single. (If love's going to be as elusive as it has proven to be, I'd rather not waste time and energy on it!)

I'll have a second bachelor's degree, probably in Engineering.

My new career will be progressing nicely.

I will be a member of some kind of band or ensemble.

My art portfolio will have more padding.

Bicycling will have become a slightly larger part of my life, and I will participate in a variety of charity rides and centuries.

I will have a more-or-less permanent church home (I'm still fairly new to NC).

By then, my NC to CA road trip dream will have been made a reality! It was originally going to be an after high school with friends deal... NY to CA, then I thought it might make a fun honeymoon. Now I think I should just go it alone, or it's not going to happen.

I'll still drive the same car unless it's in a wreck (love my '96 Camaro).

Perhaps I will own my own home... but that's pushing it.

I will see myself in any reflective window or mirror that happens to be showing at that point in 5 years... :p

Seriously, though, I don't know fully. Finished my MDiv, hopefully. I have some dreams, but I don't know how they will play out as time goes on. I'm confused enough already.

that is the million dollar question :p

in five years I'll probably have just finished up all my undergrad schooling and I may or may not be going to seminary at that point. I may or may not be married at that point. I may or may not be working fulltime in a secular field or in ministry. I may or may not have been raptured at that point ;) :p

I'm just going to worry about getting through my schoolwork now and let the Lord lead as He sees fit :)

BTW, I love this kind of question. When not taken too seriously, it can be a light-hearted opportunity to speculate about what might be. Do I expect things to happen just as I think they might? Of course not... but it's still fun to think about.

Yeah, you never fully know what the Lord has in store for you. I look at it that I'm going in this general direction until I feel led to alter my course... and who knows what that will be. Maybe in five years I'll be a circus performer. Never say never. :p
