Where do you buy your books?

I used to buy my books at bookstores, but now I only buy them online; they're much cheaper over the internet.

I usually buy from (1) Amazon.ca; (2) Chapters.ca; (3) TalesofWonder.com; (4) BarnesAndNobles.com.

Amazon works best for me. I like it that they offer free shipping if you spend over $ 25. And I LOVE their "Share the Love" program!

Second-hand stores for impulse purchases.

If I want to read something in particular, I try to get it out of the library.

If I want to buy a book I can't find in the library, I try Ebay and then Amazon.

If I'm after something specific...WH Smiths, Waterstones, or Borders (<---my favourite). I buy from amazon.co.uk only if I can't find what I want anywhere else, or if I find a good deal for something.

I usually buy from either Amazon or Barnes and Noble online because they're so much cheaper. I try to buy some stuff at Catholic bookstores though to support their apostolate.

Used bookstores, garage sales, library sales.

I've found some books I really wanted and only paid about 50 cents for them and they were in pretty good condition.

Other then that, Barnes and Noble and Walden's Bookstore.

I usually borrow from the library, but when they don't have a particular book, it's Borders and then amazon. The Borders in our area is far superior to the Barnes and Noble. I don't know why that is, but it is.

As for the independant booksellers thing, I'd like to support McSweeney's and TNI Books, but I haven't. Yet. It's the thought that counts, right?

Has anyone tried Berean? We've got one here in the area, a very LARGE store. I was impressed with their fiction selection: rather than sticking to several big-time bestsellers like many other stores do, they had a wide variety of titles. I respect that! They give a chance to lesser known authors.
