  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

... the mind come along in human evolution? Not the brain. The mind is intangible and emergent.

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

What was unique in Adam and Eve was the breath of life that God breathed into them. He put a part of Himself in His creation. The Hebrew word is: n'shamah. It means divine intellect or inspiration.

That is the same thing that makes true christians different today is the Holy Spirit pour out at Pentacost into the Church. Before Pentacost the Spirit would come upon people from time to time. There were very few who were actually filled with the Holy Spirit of God, before Pentacost.

Well, since you are talking about something by your own definition is intangible and therefore un-testable, I wouldn't expect science to say anything about it. Just as science does not say anything about God because God is un-testable.

I think he was joking. :)

Well, it really depends on what you mean mind? If you mean the ability to be self aware, then humans arent the only ones on the planet who have a mind/soul.

Other animals have passed the basic self awareness test. I believe some primates have and dolphins and im not sure what else.

Here is an interesting little article on it: http://ar.vegnews.org/self_aware.html

Where did the software come along in machine manufacturing?  Not the computer.  The software is intangible and emergent.

If you can answer this second question, you have the answer for your first question.  The mind is after all just the workings of the brain.

His name is "Truth In Faith."

He says " I'm looking at both sides of the argument." He quotes only creationist authors. He posts a thread consisting of the usual laundry list of questions for evolutionists.

A few weeks later, in a span of 28 minutes, he posts THREE threads effectively stating, in conjunction, that the evolutionist perspective is invalid. One is an unimproved Argument From Beauty. The second questions where the 'mind' came from under naturalism, then defines this 'mind' into the realm of the supernatural. The third quotes Paul saying (in essence) "Everyone knows God exists, neener neener neener."

Does anyone else find this _EXCEEDINGLY_ insulting? We're supposed to take him seriously when he says he's looking at both sides of the issue? Truth in Faith, I marvel at your sheer arrogance.

You are correct. It is an emergent property. That's your answer. :)
