  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When worst gets worse.

The story of Jacob is worth reading. Here is a man who had so much and then things seemed to get so bad.

He lost his best son Joseph whom he thought to be dead, and then if that wasn’t enough, a man in Egypt takes his son Simeon as prisoner, and to make it all the worse he demands that Benjamin should also go down to Egypt. In Jacobs eyes GOD WAS AGAINST him, nothing was going right! Sadness and sorrow filled his old aging life when it should have been one of blessing. But in all this Gods LOVE and MERCY shone through the dark cloud at the end. Not only was Joseph alive but God had used all Jacobs sadness to allow Joseph to be the sustainer of a new born nation (Israel).

Can we see how it works for us to?

Are things getting worse in your life? No sign of hope? No longed for companion? No job or little cash? Debts may be?

Well behind the darkness of present conditions God is there and He will do such great things for you and me, in a latter day. So take heart your hardship is but for a short season.
:) John

Good post as always, John. Every prophet needs his time in the desert. The hardest thing to do when we are experience a bad time is to remain persistent and persevere. We are always tempted to give up, to forget everything. As John said, even when it seems that God has left us, He will bless our lives enormously at a later stage :)

Heh, John, that really made a difference for me. Thank you so much!

I haven't dated in a long time and I'm striking out all the time these days. Work is overwhelming and I'm now forced to work overtime and general anxiety has been gripping me today. I'm not sure I should admit this, but you know, with all that, I was just now about to throw in the towel and go back to my old bad habit of browsing porn just to escape. Then I read your post. Now, I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying right here and I'm going to fight that ugly urge. Thanks for your encouragement, it made a difference for me.

The Lord will reward you Jiminy; just wait upon Him, and when you get time, grab some good Christian CDs and go somewhere quiet and spend time with Jesus. You will discover that the greastest power against any weakness is the JOY and PRESENCE of God. Ask Him to fill you and He will, Blest are those who hunger for Him...they shall be filled :)

I hate to be a partial wet blanket :D But on the other hand.... God is not required to give us what we want. God didn't HAVE to keep Joseph alive like He did. But He did. We have to be content with what God does provide us. Yes, God loves us, but we ought not to expect that our hardship on earth ever HAS to lighten, even.

It is encouraging, however, that God is there and can and will do great things, if we are submitted to Him... my only point is: those great things don't necessarily manifest themselves in earthly/material wealth or happiness. :D

(I'm not trying to limit God, by the way, but simply to say that being content doesn't mean you'll put up with it until it gets better :))

Note: I might not be a wet blanket at all but merely echoing the thoughts. I'm not entirely sure what the last sentence of the original post exactly meant. :)

Yes :D Joy in your salvation, joy in God's work.

Don't forget your Bible with the Chrsitian cds ;) :)

Yes Indeed so but to me the Greatest Joy Is Jesus alone and nothing else. Of course we thank the Lord for His salvation, but more than that we Joy and find great happiness in the giver of that Gift "Jesus" our love and hearts Desire.:)
