Exodus 13:

1 The LORD said to Moses, 2 “Consecrate to me all the firstborn. Whatever is the first to open the womb among the people of Israel, both of man and of beast, is mine.”
Numbers 18:

16 When they are a month old, you must redeem them at the redemption price set at five shekels of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs.
Jesus was the firstborn of Mary. He needed to be consecrated and redeemed.

Leviticus 12:

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, 2“Say to the Israelites, ‘A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be unclean for seven days, as she is during the days of her menstruation. 3 And on the eighth day the flesh of the boy’s foreskin is to be circumcised.
Jesus was circumcised on the 8th day.

4 The woman shall continue in purification from her bleeding for thirty-three days. She must not touch anything sacred or go into the sanctuary until the days of her purification are complete.
6 When the days of her purification are complete,
7 + 33 = 40 days

whether for a son or for a daughter, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering. 7And the priest will present them before the LORD and make atonement for her; and she shall be ceremonially cleansed from her flow of blood. This is the law for a woman giving birth, whether to a male or to a female.
At the end of 40 days, Mary needed to be cleansed.

8 But if she cannot afford a lamb, she shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. Then the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.’ ”
Now, in Luke 2:

22And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses,
"their" refers to whom?

they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
Joseph and Mary brought Jesus to the temple to present him to the Lord according to Ex 13:1.

23(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”) 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”
Mary was cleansed according to Lev 12:8.

Luke indicated that Joseph needed to be purified as well. For what?

Berean Standard Bible, Matthew 1:

25 But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a Son. And he gave Him the name Jesus.
One possibility is that Joseph had sexual intercourse with Mary after Jesus was born; thereby, Joseph was unclean by her vaginal blood (Lev 15). He was summarily purified with Mary's offering.
