I was wondering if he went to hell during those 3 days.
I don't remember reading anything about it and someone mentioned it to me once.

Man sined and the cost of it is death, separation from God in hell.
God was graceful and he sent he himself in human form so that he can teach us and then die on the cross to pay for ALL of our sins.

Before he died he said "father why have you forsaken me" ...if I am not mistaken. Is it because he took in all of man's sin and that's why he said that?

Wouldn't that mean during those 3 days he was in hell?

hell was prepared for the devil and his angels, the devil will be its first inhabitant followed by his hordes.

the idea of jesus going to hell founds little basis in the NT scriptures, but lots in church tradition (of certain denominational persuasions)

According to the fullness of Him that fills all things (ie. The Church), Christ did indeed spend time in hell. Now, the definition of hell needs more attention. In a nutshell, Roman Catholics (and her children the Protestants) believe that hell is a place. To Eastern Christians, hell is living in the presence of God for all eternity with the knowledge that you rejected Him. The same light that warms and comforts those who believed, is torment to those who did not believe. Thus hell is indeed prepared for the devil and his angels. Satan will kneel before Christ and call Him Lord. Total humiliation. And Satan, who is consumed with his own hate for God, will continue to burn.

The NT was never intended to be a tell all book. It it, as Paul points out, able to lead one to salvation. Again, the East and the West differ on what salvation is. Western Protestants put a great deal of faith in a legal system approach. They also put great stock in saying "the prayer." The idea of "getting saved" paralells the idea of Roman Catholic indulgences, once saved always saved and I got the paper to prove it.
The EO view of salvation is much more complicated. To define would be to go into heresy. But the short answer is God saves through grace in a manner that allows man to participate, a process known as theosis.

It's interesting that the phrase is "the devil and his angels." Satan himself is an angel. Man cannot become an angel in same way a dog cannot become a fish. So where does man end up?????
