• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When God wants to drill a man

When God wants to drill a man,

And thrill a man,

And skill a man

When God wants to mold a man

To play the noblest part;

When He yearns with all His heart

To create so great and bold a man

That all the world shall be amazed,

Watch His methods, watch His ways!

How He ruthlessly perfects

Whom He royally elects!

How He hammers him and hurts him,

And with mighty blows converts him

Into trial shapes of clay which

Only God understands;

While his tortured heart is crying

And he lifts beseeching hands!

How He bends but never breaks

When his good He undertakes;

How He uses whom He chooses,

And which every purpose fuses him;

By every act induces him

To try His splendor out-

God knows what He's about.

That is great!

I'm always looking for poetry to use in sermons. Thank you for giving me another one to have in my collection!

When our soul is much discouraged

By the roughness of the way,

And the cross we have to carry

Seems heavier every day;

When some cloud that overshadows

Hides our Father’s face from view,

O ‘tis well then to remember

He has blessed us hitherto.

Looking back the long years over,

What a varied path! And yet

All the way His hand hath led us,

Placed each hindrance we have met,

Given to us all the journey through,

Passing through the deepest waters,

He has blessed us hitherto.

Surely then our hearts should trust Him,

Though the clouds be dark o’erhead;

We’ve a Friend that draweth closer

When all other friends have fled.

When our pilgrimage is over,

And the gates we’re sweeping through,

We shall see with clearer vision

How He’s blessed us hitherto.

The Beauty Of Jesus In Me

My life touched yours for a very brief space,
And what, Oh what did you see?
A hurried, a worried and anxious face,
Or the beauty of Jesus in me?

Was I steeped so deep in the ways of the world,
That you couldn't detect one thing
That would set me apart and show that my heart
Belonged to the Heavenly King?

Did I carry no banner for Jesus my Lord,
Not one thing at all that could show
Whose side I am on in this glorious fight,
I am His, But you wouldn't know.

Forgive me, and if we should e're meet again
Upon earth, Oh, I pray you will see,
No mark of this world, but His banner unfurled,
And the beauty of Jesus in me!
