Yes we are forgiven, but it needs to be recieved.
Luke 22:36-38 King James Version (KJV)
36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
You seem to be trying to use one set of verses to contradict another. You can't do that. The Lord teaches us to forgive people who have repented. What's wrong with that? If you want to forgive people who haven't repented, go ahead, but don't teach newcomers they have to do it..
You have ignored every post I have sent to you
If you refuse to open the door, then it would seem to me you haven't really forgiven them.No, I should protect myself. But I would forgive him nevertheless.
No, I quoted the applicable verse. You're trying to contradict it with other verses. You can't do that. Forgive others as you'd have the Lord forgive you - it's in the Lord's prayer. If you think the Lord is going to forgive you of a sin before you repent of that sin, I believe you are kidding yourself..
Yeah it's all on you, what God said about forgiveness doesn't matter in the least, you must have you precious Repentance before you will forgive.
It says forgive IF he repents.reread your OP
didn't see the protection part

What is forgiveness? What does it mean in a person to person context? When God forgives, Eternal Life is the reward. But between us it is a question of who needs it and can they accept it. You can choose not to hold blame for a transgression in your heart and tell someone so, but until they repent it does not do what it is supposed to do. It is like a battery with one pole disconnected. That is why repentance is so importance. Forgiveness is not for you but the one who has transgressed against you. You forgive them because they need it, not because they have earned it. But it is up to them to accept it and complete the circuit.
The Lord tells us that we must forgive someone who has repented of their sin:
[3] Take heed to yourselves; if your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him;
[4] and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, and says, `I repent,' you must forgive him." Luke 17:3-4 RSV
However, there are those who think you should forgive before someone repents. What do you think?
If someone comes to your door every day and kicks you in the shin, would you continue to open the door for him?

I don't understand the connection here (unless this is meant to be for another post), is it violence and self-defense in the face of repeated physical abuse? I recognize the rights but would never use them.
