Q. When did you first want to be a minister?

I've felt called since before I was in kindergarten that I was
supposed to be a worshipper and a missionary.
Of course, growing up, I'd always dreamed of becoming other
things and strayed in my walk with God, but God's hand's been
upon me, as well as my parents who have been wonderful at
raising their 5 children. But when I was 12 years old,
(there's a little story behind all of this), I discovered a deep
longing to go to Scotland, UK. I didn't know exactly 'why' then,
but the yearning inside me has never gone away and keeps growing larger with every day. I rededicated my life to Christ in
my own bedroom when I was 15 years old and grew a lot in the Lord. Then, when I was almost 16, I believe, I felt a big giant burst inside me, a clear call, that I was meant to be a "musicionary"--(just like I knew I was supposed to be when I was so much younger)--to Scotland! Even though I didn't know why I wanted to go to that country so much (when it all started at 12), I believe that God put it here (and it's here to stay) in my heart for a purpose. I'm so thankful that it stayed with me until I came to my truest devotion to Him! He is my total determination and confidence. It's now been 6 years since that seed was planted in me to go to Scotland...still counting.

With this thread, I'm just hoping to encourage others,
who feel called to the ministry
(of whatever God's placed on their hearts), to:

1. Trust God with your life
2. Go after becoming a mirror-image (or reflection) of Christ
3. Keep with it
4. Never lose faith
5. Ignore discouragment (and)
6. Pursue carrying out your own God-given mission

It's still gonna be like four to five more years till I get to go to my mission field, but it gives me so much more time to grow and become more like Jesus (the ultimate example for all Christians), and to use every opportunity to be a missionary where I am, whether it be at my home or out in the world (when I remember to deal with those situations in that light). (-;

I am curious to know your own stories about how you were
called and all that. This version is not complete because there are
other facts I left out (you can PM me if you want to know more).
This is the basic outline of how God got me into His service.

God bless every one of you who are:

~seaching for your own ministry
~(those who) know and are in pursuit of accomplishing their own calls
~(and all who are) presently giving their time and lives to His service.

I love you all in Jesus' name more than you know!

Hi Brittany K-

I was called to full time ministry when I was 21 years old and new @ allowing God to be my Lord. I had accepted Him as Savior @ the age of 8, but never submitted myself to His Lordship until I was 21.

It was during a Teen Challenge rally @ my church. Our pastor followed by delivering a message that we are ALL called to be ministers of the Good News in 'full time' ministry. Some of us are called to work in the ministry as a profession and others as lay persons. I responded by saying 'here I am send me...whatever you want from me Lord, I'm yours' and went forward to be prayed for. :groupray:

I served Him faithfully as a lay person for 7 years until I was offended and deeply wounded. I refused to forgive those who had hurt me and my life slowly spiraled out of control over the next 10 years.

After allowing me to bottom out and always graciously being there for me when I reached for the only thing in life that I knew was absolute Truth, I recommitted my life 3 years ago. Within 6 months of my rededication I met my husband, a full time staff member of Teen Challenge International. :)

Within months after our wedding, much to my amazement, I was offered a position with a church as their bookkeeper and stepped into the first full time professionally paid ministry position I had ever had. I recently resigned from that position to dedicate myself to my number one ministry calling, my husband. God has given me the desires of my heart. I always wanted to be a pastor's wife, a homemaker & an artist. When not doing that (being a wife is full time:)), I spend my time studying the word & am the founder & executive director for a ministry that focuses on reaching people in the lifestyle that God delivered myself & my husband out of.

I love full time ministry. I love sharing Jesus with people and telling them what He has done for me & will do for them. It can be tough @ times, but I have learned that if you keep your priorities straight, your focus on Him, everything else will just fall into place. All to His glory.

Whatever we do we are to do it as unto the Lord. So whether you're getting paid for being in ministry or a volunteer, do it with a standard of excellence. Let your light shine for Him in all you do. We are the salt of the world.

In His love & service,
Julie
