  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How far along were you when you picked your baby name(s)?

Everyone keeps hassling us to tell us what we're naming the baby but we just haven't come to a definite decision yet and I'm not really in a rush. I figure, he's going to have this name the rest of his life, I might as well pick a nice one, right? :) My grandmother didn't name my uncle until the 4th day after he was born  so I said that no one is allowed to rush me :D That said, we're down to two names so we'll probably decide pretty quickly. I'd like to have one picked before I go home for Christmas, but I just can't decide between the two.

I just love naming things~ I like for the names to have a meaning, even if it's a silly one. (My cat, for instance, is named Tobikakaru which is, I believe, Japanese for 'to pounce, to spring upon'. I call him Tobi for short ^_^)
That being said, I always like to take my time figuring out names and with my tadpole, since it's another person, it's kind of intimidating to think he will be going by what I choose for the rest of his life! I'd always had a boy's name picked out so that was easy. The middle had me stumped for months but I think I've finally stuck on one. I guess one of the upsides to being on my own is I don't have to have a second opinion on it ;) Like my bossman said, "If it's a girl you should name it Anaesthesia and if it's a boy you should name it Methuselah." I'm gonna miss those guys :D

I'm not pregnant (yet!) but I have had my names picked out for a long time, Names that have meaning behind them and have a Biblical connection as well.

I have 2 girl names and 2 boys names

Bethany (grace-middle name), Phoebe, Joel and Nathanial

If i had a boy I would love his middle name to be after my dad which was "William", just in memory of him.

We tossed around names and took a list to the hospital with us. We usually decided about 2 days after "baby" was born. Since we didn't want to know the gender (the technician slipped and told us) we kept that hidden from everyone else. We also though of names for both genders JUST IN CASE the tech was wrong ;)

well the girls name that we had picked out we had since I was preg with Robert...and still won't need it (unless the tech was wrong...which I don't think she was)

the boy name this time arround we are still up in the air about... originally it was going to be some combination of george, gilbert, charles, now we are dropping george, and going with thomas......all are family names.

Robert's name, and the girl name were picked out pretty much either while we were dating or early in our marriage... Robert was named after both of our dad's, he got the Edward from my mom's dad, and Christian, becaus Ken always wanted that to be a part of his son's name... Ken's idea three names...
the girl name is kind of keeping with the tradition that my parents started with me... I was named after both of my grandmothers, My mom's name is Betty Jane, his mom was Louise Olga... but I just couldn't bring myself to do Betty louise....so I desided since Betty is a dirivitive of Elizabeth, I would do Elizabeth louise and then we would add Christiniana, or Christabell as the final middle name....

don't know if we'll get to use my girl name though :(

We had a girl's name picked out by about three months. Then we found out we were having a boy. We didn't finalize the name until about an hour after he was born.

Now we're expecting again, so hopefully it's a girl so we can use this name! :D

My first son i adopted when he was 2 and a half mos old and he already had a name. They told me i could change his name when i adopted him but i decided to leave it be what it was. His name is Joseph Harry. My second son we picked out his name one week after i had my 20 week ultrasound when they told us he would be a boy. The funny thing is..we had a girls name all picked out before the ultrasound. We had it narrowed down to 8 boys names!! lol. When i found out he was a boy we spent a week going over the 8 names and tossing certain ones out till we finally came up with Luke Richard (Richard is my fathers name). We werent gonna tell the rest of the family, but hubby let it slip about a month after we decided..so then everyone knew for the last few months of my pregnancy!

This time around i dont want to pick the name till the baby is born! i think we will narrow it down to 2-3 names before going in to deliver, then pick the name after seeing the baby!! i just want a "surprise" at the end this time!!

We had a girl name picked out two weeks into dating, but no clue on a boy name, just that we wanted it to start with a "J." When we found out we were having a little boy, I made my husband sit down THAT day at my celebratory dinner at Outback and we decided on a name. I knew what I wanted to name him, but DH despised my names so we just named him the only thing we could both agree on LOL the middle name was easy because it is a family name.

Boys names came a lot easier for us. We had a second boy name picked out while pregant with our first boy (we only have one boy & one girl, so we already have a boy's name for this one if it's a boy). It was more difficult agreeing on a girls name because we don't like a lot of the same names, and there are a lot of common names that are just too common. I don't like his sister's names, they are ugly names in my opinion and didn't want to name them after anyone in our family, except my sisters. I have a sister name Rachel, and a sister name sarah, so we named her Rachelle Sarah Lynn (my sis's first and middle name)... so anyways, I thouht it was neat to name something that means something or after family members (as long as it's not Miral pearl...)
