  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When did evolution begin?

No.

Luke traces our ancestry back to Adam, who was created by God.
True, but typically after the flood the nations start from the line of Noah...in fact every tribe, tongue and nation go back to Noah...and yes...Adam and Eve...Noah being the only unspoiled blood line from Adam and Eve.

"I believe we can adapt but not evolve in the sense that is being argued."--jimbohank

Your words. Why do you believe that?
That we can adapt? If it gets cold out I go and get a coat. If it is raining I cover my head...I adapt. I certainly don't grow hair like a wolf because it is cold outside or grow gills because I like to swim a lot.

The adaptation we are talking about takes place over several generations, not in a single generation.

So why don't you believe that life can evolve?

I certainly don't grow hair like a wolf because it is cold outside or grow gills because I like to swim a lot.

Would you agree that mutations can change the amount of hair that someone has compared to their ancestors?

Mutations we see have nothing to do with "evolution", nice primate pics by the way,...unless you consider a person with two extra deformed arms sticking out of their chest as evolution.

Of course mutations have something to do with evolution. Do you even know what mutations are?

OK, so did we evolve from primates?

We are primates. We evolved from earlier primates, if that is what you are asking.

This generation of Chihuahuas evolved from Chihuahuas. Ancestral Chihuahuas evolved from earlier dogs, and Chihuahuas are still dogs. Same thing for humans and primates.

Yes...DNA abnormalities

Everyone is born with as many as 50 mutations.

"Here we present, to our knowledge, the first direct comparative analysis of male and female germline mutation rates from the complete genome sequences of two parent-offspring trios. Through extensive validation, we identified 49 and 35 germline de novo mutations (DNMs) in two trio offspring, as well as 1,586 non-germline DNMs arising either somatically or in the cell lines from which the DNA was derived."
http://www.nature.com/ng/journal/v43/n7/full/ng.862.html

They were able to show this by sequencing the genomes of parents and their children. They found changes in the DNA of children that were not found in the parents. This is true of every single person in every single generation.
