That might be an example. Do you have a link to an article that you think represents best this instance?

Last night, the American Atheists Board of Directors voted to terminate David Silverman as President of American Atheists. Board Chair Neal Cary and Vice President Kathleen Johnson will continue to fulfill the duties of the President while National Program Director Nick Fish oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization.

On April 9, 2018, the Board of Directors placed President David Silverman on leave pending a review of allegations raised regarding Mr. Silverman’s conduct. The Board of Directors has reviewed internal documents and communications related to the initial complaint as well as evidence relating to the additional allegations brought to the Board’s attention. Today’s announcement is based on these findings, and the Board intends to cooperate with any future investigations.

American Atheists is committed to creating and maintaining an environment that is safe and welcoming to all. Based on the allegations made, and the evidence presented, the Board believes it is prudent and necessary to reaffirm that commitment and move forward with new leadership.

The Board statement is a little bland and HR-speak-y, but it seems clear that some kind of harassment was the problem. The page links to a Buzzfeed story with lots of details that are probably too racy for CF. There is mention of financial impropriety as well, but the details are hazy -- it may just have been that he hired someone that he had a sexual relationship with rather than because of her qualifications. Job-related ones, anyway.

Thank you for providing some support for the point you were making earlier. I hadn't heard about this incident involving David Silverman, so I thought I'd find some article that provided a little more info about it, preferably one that at least partially includes something about his side of the story. I found the following, and in that article I found a few more interesting ethical tidbits. It sounds to me like there's an ethical and moral work in progress within the Atheist movement of today that is contending with, as the article states,

"Organized secularism — which includes atheist, humanist, skeptic and other reason-focused groups — is now grappling with issues of misogyny, sexual harassment and safety for women and minorities."

.... and for contending with these kinds of immoralities, I commend them. Here's the whole article I found:

Leading atheist, accused of sexual misconduct, speaks out. [Washington Post, Sept. 6, 2018]

What’s the evidence for this mythology of yours?

Oh, you got me, Todd! You got me!

You're surely correct that the evidence does not show that there are, as I was mistakenly averring, "several ethical systems" running amok in various atheist's heads.

There's actually more than a dozen. So, thanks for the correction! You have my humble thanks! I wouldn't want to be spreading any myths around or other falsities in this already confusing world in which we live. :dontcare:

We both, of course, know that I’m referring to your mythology of a god given brain. That you chose to play coy shows me that your mythology must not be very convincing.

And here we atheists remain. If only you could come up with some reason to believe...

Here's the thing, Todd: This OP is about differences between atheists in their ethical thinking. So, whether or not Christianity is a myth, or whether or not it is epistemically difficult for any Christian to demonstrate its truth, most that has basically nothing to do with where this conversation should be going. See, I don't have to prove my position, especially not with YOU since YOU already know that I take a different tact to epistemology and the Christian faith.

Moreover, this isn't an apologetics thread, so don't you play coy and talk AS IF I could even broach that, really. No, we're just here to talk about differences of opinion in the world of ethics between current atheists, such as the two in the OP.

I've always thought you're a cool-cat, Todd. Don't push me and make me change my mind. ;)

... sure, I'm partly playing coy, BUT I've also briefly stated elsewhere what my own epistemological predilections are on 'how' the epistemological economy within the Bible works. So, you may want to give a head-nod to this fact, especially since I know you were there on some of the occasions where I state these things in the past.

It should go without saying that Christianity isn't going to be very convincing to many people. In fact, we both know it's safe to say that it never has been.

Now, enough about my so-called mythology and back to the problem of the OP.
