There are a zillion systems with a million variables out there.

if you are going to post for help, it would help us tech's if you told us the specifics about your computer.

1. operating system win98, XP, XP64, Vista,Vista 64
2 how much ram do you have on board
3 computer brand model number HP PAVILLION, ACER LAPTOP, COMPAQ, HOMEMADE ect,ect.
4. the name of the program causing you trouble, Nero, Quicktime,Real player ect.ect....
5 type of problem, internet, graphics, backups,?

This will help us to serve you faster and with the correct solution.

If I could add one more thing.... If you resolve your problem without taking the suggestions given to you, it would satisfy my insatiable curiosity if you would please post what you did to fix it, or what the problem actually turned out to be. I can't stand it when 15 people offer suggestions for help, and then a response is posted to the effect of, "Never mind, I got it to work".

I see your point all the time, snoochface... I take time out to help someone, with detailed info, on a cure and they hardly ever say thanks, that worked.
I give stuff away, the way I see It, Everything I have is a loan from Jesus anyway, My Skills, Talents, Wisdom, knowledge, my mind and soul...Freely given, Freely give.

Out of the 10 lepers healed only one returned to give thanks. Many Christians suffer from lack of good Comm. Skills manors and charm.

If I may add to this - Just these aren't very helpful, since the big brands make a lot of computers, and product lines such as the Pavilion are over 10 years old. If Acer, HP, Dell, or whoever pre-built it for you, let us know the specific model, i.e. Dell XPS 420. Any specs you can name off are helpful too - RAM has been mentioned, so would the processor, graphics card, and so forth.

For the record you can find the information by running DXDiag on a Windows PC. In Windows XP and earlier, click start -> Run and type in DXDiag. Click OK and a window detailing your computer's specs will show up.
In Windows Vista you can type DXDiag in the search field in the start menu and it should show up.

On a Mac, click the apple menu, choose 'about this mac' and click the button 'More info…'
