  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was just wondering what songs you and your kids share at special times? I remember my mother singing "Jesus Loves Me" when I was upset and at bedtime.

My son and I share the song "Skinny Marinky Doo", which is strange, but he does some of the hand motions and stops crying when I sing it. It's "our" song.

So what are your special songs... however kooky. ;)

my children love to entertain me with dramatic sequences that they choreograph - and they're only 7 and 11, they will dance to pretty much anything and we all share profound love of music.

My son even attempts to emulate the singing style of the wonderful Andrea Boccelli!

Whenever blessed with the opportunity to lay my grandchildren down for a nap or tuck them in at night, I sing the song from the book, "Love You Forever". I just made up a tune to it.

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
as long as I'm living
my baby you'll be."

That is a Robert Munch book. He is a great children's author. When I had to read that picticular one to a group of Children, I would always get something caught in my eye.

AS for Songs. I kinds made up quiet songs around my daughters names that I sing to them as I am cuddling them.

As for fun songs, the Veggie tales songs for Jonah or the ever popular Wiggles are on my daughters top 10 lists.

Uh does anyone find the Wiggles disturbing?

I have to admit, at first I did, but with a two year old I had to get use to them. Now, as sad as it is, I find myself singing some of their songs when my daughter is no where around.

Jesus Loves Me is what I sing to my son and he can sing with me now. He can only say "Jesus", "for the bible", and "so"(at the end) but it is so cute and I'm glad that he is learning it. His next favorite is the ABCs...he's got A-K but he still babbles through LMNOP. He can also sing "now I know my ABCs" and the very last "me". He will be 2 in a month. I love him to peices!!!
