Okay, I know that. Also, rape was interpreted differently among different cultures over the ages. I was mainly talking about a random man forcing himself on a random woman--not a husband on his own wife.

No, slavery shouldn't be legalized...just like in my example, drugs shouldn't be legalized. A woman should still have her civil and human rights, but the element of "charging" for sex changes how humans interact and fornicate. It is this deviation that I think has separated us from the way things used to be...in nature that is. Courtship is applicable and is a good alternative to outright forced sex, but the abstraction of paying for sex renders all of that irrelevant. Why take a girl out on five dates and spend a few hundred dollars just to get her comfortable enough to have sex with you three weeks down the road if you can just pay her fifty bucks right then and there to have intercourse instead? See what I mean? Courtship becomes irrelevant if sex is all you want.
So what
is a person to do if sex is all he wants? Should he court her, make her fall in love by feigning interest in a relationship, get what he wants from her, and then leave her heartbroken? Or should he just skip the formalities and rape her? I don't quite understand where you're going with this.
No, I think it is probably pretty demeaning, gross, and disgusting, in all honesty. But so is working in a fast-food joint. So is being a janitor. So is being a garbage man. Yet men slave away at those horrible jobs just to have money to pay to prostitutes for sex.
You forget that nobody is forcing these men to pay prostitutes. They could save their money and rent a few good movies instead. It's less risky that way.
If being a hooker was so terrible, why wouldn't they just go work at McDonald's instead?
Because being a hooker pays more. A LOT more.
Well, I already know why. It's a lifestyle. And even if fast-food paid more and gave them more security, they would still be prostitutes because of the emotional shackles which bind them to that profession.
Are you kidding? If prostitutes were offered jobs that were better paying and more secure, they'd leave the profession in droves. For many, prostitution is simply either a last resort, or a way of making lots of money fast.
