What's wrong with American churches/Christians?

I have heard over and over American churches are mislead, corrupted, different, twisted, etc by people outside of America. I've never really gotten into a conversation with the people who have told me that.

So, what's so bad about American churches?
Why do non-Americans criticize us so much?
