Whats worse?

Which is the most harmful evironment for a child to be raised in and why, an abusive home (Not like beating with a golf club but the occasional smacking around and getting screamed at) or a supportive and loving home with two fathers/mothers?

I would say an abusive home but if your in middle school or something your probaly more liable to get picked on.

Definitely an abusive home. I personally know a woman who is my age who was raised by a lesbian couple. One of the women was artificially inseminated and the couple raised her with just as much love and concern as a heterosexual couple would. She is now married (to a man) and has a child of her own. She's a great mother and her son has two grandmothers who dote on him as any proud grandparents would. She really didn't get teased badly in school. Sure, there were the occasional jabs, but let's face it - kids will be cruel to their peers for any reason they see fit whether it's the style of clothes you wear, if you have freckles, if you wear braces, etc.

Gays and lesbians are also more willing to adopt older children, children of a different ethnicity and children with birth defects or debilitating illnesses. Sexual orientation does not determine how well you would do raising children.

Coming from an abusive household, I can honestly say gay parents would have been preferable to being abused by my dad.

I would sooner live in a homosexual household than a Bible believing, extreme fundie one any day of the week, the former is not abusive, the latter may well be!

to me it seems like though both situations would be less than ideal, the abusive home would be far worse.

From today it is legal in the UK for unmarried couples, gay and straight to adopt a child. Previously only one partner could be named on the adoption certificate unless they were married. Good for the UK!
