Why is this forum filled with word games? Is that what people over 50 do? Yikes.

This is what some people enjoy. Then, we complain about our aches and pains from playing with our toy trains.

LOL, well I thought I might find discussions like the empty nest, praying for the salvation of your grown kids and sharing testimony, discussing mid life changes like selling the family home, taking on new roles in the church now that you have more time, what God has been teaching you as you become more mature in Him...stuff like that. I have nothing against games, per se. Maybe I'm not ready to be 50.![]()
Not me, Julianna. That's why your question caught my attention. Personally, I have FAR more important things to do with my remaining days and years than to play games. Why is this forum filled with word games? Is that what people over 50 do? Yikes.

The games here in this forum are popular, otherwise they would not be so well supported.
Yes bartony, we all know you object.

Childish things include not only the toys made for our children's amusement and the word games we've created here to fill our time and amuse ourselves. Those things I believe will meet God's aproval so long as He is first in our lives. He first wants us to try to please Him, but He also gave us things in this world to enjoy. It would be wrong to NEVER participate in the things which He provided for our enjoyment. Remember that He created all things! Not me, Julianna. That's why your question caught my attention. WWJD (meaning "What would Jesus do")? Would He play games, or would He pray and do the works that the Father gave Him to do?
We each have a choice in how we spend our 24/7. Before I was saved, I played a lot of games. Then, I began to read and study God's Word and to do what it says...I don't find games in there, so I don't do them...except in 1 Corinthians 13:11, that is.

The things which are also childish are those which most of the people in this world do instead of seeking 'first the kingdom of God and His righteousness'. Many of these people have NEVER held God as the first love in their lives and therefore they do not know and understand what we are saying here.
Is it our job to actively look for potential new converts in all of our spare time? I would say, NO! Rather it is our job to be 'living epistle' to be read of all men.
If folks want to play the word games.... Whats the big issue?
We can have word games and more serious threads can't we? Personally I have a lot of heavy things in my life at the moment, and am on other websites concerning some of them. This one is for my "time off" and I feel I need something light and entertaining, as well as the more serious issues.
Please remember there are other non-age forums on all sorts of issues. This is such a big website I'm sure you will find discussions to stimulate you, and I hope you feel welcome on ours. Don't just see the superficiality; there is a lot of love between people who have never actually met each other here.
God bless,
Sue
