  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's with the Crucifix as a symbol?

Why walk with a dead fish, if you can´t walk with a cross ?
OK, more serious... as someone said, the cross is a SYMBOL, and not for a weak moment, but for a symbol of the strength of love in fact!
Also many crosses ARE empty, which symbolises that Jesus has risen from the dead!

I don´t usually wear a cross, but I see no offence for anyone wearing that either.

I like the explanation of the Cross in the Lost Book the "Acts of Peter":

I also like the explanation in the Gospel of Philip.

Basically, Jesus absorbed all of the side effects of Sin (physical and spiritual death) from Humanity so that all humans may have eternal life.

That's my understanding. He died in order to kill Sin. He took the Sin and nailed it to the Cross and dying with it, He took Sin into Hell to die along with Death.
