I fancied some chips [fries] and some curry sauce to dip them in [earlier]
So I went out to the car and found it 'covered' by 1/4 of an inch thick ICE [?]
The car thermometer read -2.C

I ran the engine for just under ten minutes
and turned on the heater and my rear window heater
within a few minutes my screen and windows were clear again, for driving
but my electric windows were frozen shut [until after my return]

It is raining again with clearing skies and plenty of stars 'peeping'
so I guess, I will have-to repeat the thawing again, tomorrow morning

Mustn't grumble though ... it is, the FIRST time it has happened, in over a year

Chips sound good I remember the fish and chips that were wrapped in newspaper when I was a kid, why did they always taste better?
According to Weather Canada, it's 4C with a windchill of 2C (39F with windchill of 35F), partly cloudy. Nice evening, all in all.

I walked to the shops about 5pm, Dave, thinking it was mild. I was astonished when leaving the supermarket to find that it was hailing - completely unexpected! :o No thunder though.

Now there is still ice on the cars, but low cloud, so no stars. As you say it's the first cold spell, and I'm so thankful for a mild winter. I feel for our American friends with their very low temperatures.

Stay warm,

Sue

I am sure that I wouldn't 'like', to live in this place [below]
However, I guess that the people that DO live there
are acclimatised and so, accept it, as their, 'Daily Bread'

It was cool when I started my walk with my dog, Bella, then it started to warm up, by the time I got home, I was hot.

I am not at all envious of your better-weather Susie Sis'
I can comfortably say, I am grateful for His grace and favour, ~to me

I agree that people acclimatize Dave, although -55C sounds terrible! :o Warm clothing needed! I don't mind the temps being a little below freezing outside, but am not keen when it's too cold inside (back to the single-glazing issue! ) hence the thanks for the mild winter.

I feel for those in Somerset etc. hit by the floods too.

SusieQ - I'm glad you've had better weather ; it sounds as if you've not had much of a summer in NZ.

Our one day warm spell is now ending. Temperatures have begun to drop. By morning we should be below 0F and by Sunday about -25F

Might seem a bit harsh to those that live in warmer climates, but it has it's own beauty. those of us who live here by choice do make advance preparations for the Winter months.
