Praise God it missed you.

Hovering above freezing, but has turned colder in the last week or so after a mild autumn. (Have managed to cover the sash windows, so don't mind too much! )

Groundfrost overnight these past two nights
Weather predictions, say we are in for an extended and 'harsh' winter
Time will tell... if, it will beat any past records

Have fun all

It's cold. The "high" if it might charitably be called that, never got out of the low 20s F today. The low could be 5F tonight, and won't be terribly warm tomorrow.

A couple of days ago I had a trip to Mt Sterling, KY. An accident had Interstate 65 totally blocked at Lafayette, Indiana so I took a detour near Rensellar. I saw some damaged buildings, one barn looked to be destroyed and another had seen its better days, a piece of farm equipment had been flipped upside down and one house had its roof blown off by a twister. Otherwise it looked like Indiana got off light as far as last weekend's storms were concerned. Some Illinois towns got hit hard, and a town near Peoria seems to have got the worst of it when an EF-4 twister hit town.

Note: In one thread on another board I saw a comment asking why they don't build in brick in tornado country. It really makes no difference what you build the house with, when an EF-4 or 5 tornado hits there's not much built above ground that survives. Straw, sticks and bricks are all the same to that big bad wolf.

O.C since late-afternoon

Windscreen and rear hatch window on my car were 'iced up' at 8.30pm [local time]
It took me almost 10 minutes to defrost the car [running engine]
before I could take Mary's grandchildren home

More of this, is extremely likely, from now on

Currently is it windy and 'mild', with temps in the low 40's and torrential rain.
The rain will end overnight with bitter cold to follow; light snow and black ice will start the holiday.
Thanksgiving Day will be sunny... but blustery and cold, with temps in the 20's and wind chills in the teens.
