We normally have hot summers but this one wasn't so bad. Of course it is all relative. But mostly in the 90's sometimes over 100. We live in the country so it doesn't feel as hot. And temp change is Texas' middle name. They say if you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a few minutes! LOL

Yes, condensation can be a problem, but I open the windows for a few minutes during the day, to get a flow or air through, so we've not had problems yet. Thankfully the double-glazing was done last year, so the windows are okay, but you're right about the walls being cold. Thanks for your advice.

Actually it's cloudy again now, so I what I saw earlier was a brief interlude. But it is quite cold outside - I had a quick peek to see if there are any stars, and it was chilly. You are certainly well-prepared. I hope we don't get any outages. The only heater is electric, so if the central heating goes off, it's a matter of huddling in the kitchen, with the gas hob lit by matches, and using candles!

LOL! I can imagine it being fresher in the country, but 90 sounds pretty hot to me.

Years ago I erected plasterboards with a foil backing,
inside an end of terrace (with solid walls) and plaster skimmed them
Then I pasted anaglypta wallcovering (like embossed cardboard) in the living room
and plastic tiles in the bathroom
Feedback from the customer later, mentioned that they were saving so-much money
on their heating bills, that they could then afford to take holidays

So, a couple of centimetres of well-chosen insulating product, actually works
and will save so much money over several winters, it can seem miraculous

* If you cannot feel a cold wall, neither can your moisture

I saw it snowing outside as I got into bed this morning @ 3.05am
when I went to the bathroom just before 5.00am (it had stopped)
and there was nothing to-show, for the 'blizzard' that I had seen earlier \o/

It is now 09.50am

We've had no snow here. In fact I found the house warmer today than yesterday; probably because the wind has dropped. Tonight it's overcast and cold, but not as chilly as I had expected.

You probably slept through it all ~the coming and it's going
It WAS here and, disappeared again whilst you were at "Bo-Bos"
The snow fall covered most of the country North to South... it did not last, in most areas

\o/

We have seen 0.C here and it may have fallen lower still overnight

We had the underblanket 'on' most of the night
I only turned it off, when I noticed Mary throw back the duvet 'to cool off'
I covered her again, before I went back to sleep
[it reminded-me, of the times I have tucked my children-in, as they slept]

Wet and Windy (typical)

It is pretty here in South Texas today. A little crisp but I like that. Bright blue skies. I am starting my holiday cooking. yum yum yum.

Sounds positively balmy (comparatively)

Cooking 'food' sounds good
Here's my menu:

Turkey and Cornbread Dressing
Giblet Gravy
Fresh Cranberry Sauce
Baked Brussel sprouts with Parmesan cheese
'Watergate Salad' (don't ask LOL)
Pumpkin Pie
Cherry Pie

Think that will warm us up if it turns cold? Wish you and Mary could join us. And others here too!

"Giblet Gravy" _would have had me turn down, an invitation
I don't do offal, to me, it's 'awful' just blame it on my upbringing
I don't do any cheese that is not crumbly (like melted)
I have never had pumpkin pie.... is that like squash ?

Anyway Bon Appetit Enjoy

You would have-to deal with a lifetime of avoidance
I would feel it more-polite to decline, rather than be a guest
that might appear unappreciative
(new tricks > old dog) but thank you for your invitation
