I've been feeling quite down for a while idk. Like what is the point anymore. Idk it is hard to explain but what is the purpose of this life and then heaven? Not only that but I don't feel a connection to god? I wanna believe but I just don't know. There is just so many questions on my mind man. Maybe Its just now and Ill find him someday but when? Does god not care about me? I wouldn't blame him not like I'd serve a purpose for him anyways. Another thing that bothers me is his rules. Don't do this don't do that why do put all of this stuff in front of me. Almost 80% of his rules are fun and pleasurable yet he doesn't want me doing them. maybe Im asking for to much. All I want is somethinf to know he is here. Yet nothing. Maybe Im supposed go to hell because of that predestination thing. If so then why make me at all is that my only purpose? I dont know man... Really loaded question I guess... Sorry for my rant and rambling. Anyone here willing to help?

Hey there : )

I know where you're coming from. I was like that too. I had so many questions in my heart. I personally believe that you were drawn here for a reason and I absolutely fully believe that you do, in fact, have a plan and purpose- even though it may not seem like it- what with the present circumstances you may be going through. This is all comes down to faith. God hasn't left you..and He still very much cares and loves you.

I wish I could put into words more of what I want to say but all I want to say is said in this video. Don't worry- it's not a boring sermon and it's spoke in a powerful down-to-earth way. I hope it helps answer some of the questions you've been having.
[I've intentionally fast-forwarded it from where to view it from, in case you were curious.]

The point of life is to follow Jesus, even though that is extremely difficult to do. for those that make it into Heaven they get to be connected to God and live in paradise. Life is a lot easier to live when you are happy and in a paradise. If you want to believe then you can just try. You can keep asking questions on this website and get a lot of answers, but the bible is probably the best place to get the answers from. It helps to pray if you want to be connected to God. You can pray for him to talk to you in your dreams. But yeah, if you don't reach towards God, then he doesn't want to force a relationship with you, James 4:8, Psalm 145:18. I hope you find him soon, maybe even today. God cares about everyone. He made everyone. The thing about his rules is that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. I mean, we live under grace, not law, but there we should always be striving to become better people to please God. Jesus said that we are to love God above all else, and to treat our neighbors as ourselves. God wants everyone to go to Heaven, but not everybody chooses him. Each person has their own purposes, and I guess that some people don't make it into heaven, Proverbs 16:4. But you are still alive and can choose to be with God in heaven.

What is the purpose of life? To glorify God by loving and enjoying Him forever. This is why God made you. Anything else you may aim yourself at is not what you were made for. Nothing else will really satisfy you but to live in line with God's purpose for you. You see, you don't exist for yourself. Like everything else in the universe, you were made for and to serve God. The universe isn't about us but about Him.

You don't feel a connection to God? Why would you when you are not living in line with the purpose for which He made you? In fact, the Bible says that as you are now, you have made yourself God's enemy. If you want this to change, you're going to have to submit your life to your Creator and let Him have the steering wheel of your life. God didn't make you to run the show yourself.

When will you find God? When you search for Him with all your heart. When you are willing to come to God on His terms rather than your own.

Jeremiah 29:13
13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

James 4:8-10
8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Does God not care about you? He cares so much for you that He died on a cross for you so that you might be reconciled to Him and live the life for which He made you! God cares for you more than anyone else!

1 John 4:9-10
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the payment for our sins.

You don't like God's rules? Well, here's the thing: the rules exist to protect you and to put you in a place where God can bless you. God isn't affected one bit if you disobey His rules. But you are. And one day, if you live a life that continues to reject God and His rules, you will find yourself standing before your Maker, not to be welcomed into His kingdom, but to be judged and punished with an eternity without Him in darkness and pain.

God doesn't tell us not to have fun. He made fun! But He wants us to have boundaries and guidelines for our fun. He knows that without these boundaries and guidelines we quickly go too far and indulge in things in ways that cause harm to us and others. As I said, God is giving you protection by putting down rules by which to live.

You want to know God is there? Evidence for Him is all around you. Creation itself, the Bible says, proclaims the glory and power of God. But men suppress the innate knowledge of God that they possess and that is confirmed in Creation.

Romans 1:18-21
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

God isn't hiding from you; perhaps you are hiding from Him.

You've been predestined to go to hell? Maybe you've been predestined to go to heaven! How can you tell? Some of the very worst people - murderers, rapists, thieves - have become children of God. You can't tell, then, just by looking at the character of your life whether or not you're predestined to salvation. Really, predestination is only a useful truth after you've been saved. It helps to secure a believer in their faith. But before you're saved it only muddies and confuses things. No one knows before they are saved if they are predestined or not, so fussing about it is pointless.

I would say that..I was agnostic. I mean, I grew up in a family that believed in God and went to Sunday Church out of habit/obligation. But the thing is..we didn't have a relationship with Jesus. It was either just head knowledge or just 'showing up at Church' and living the rest of the week as if God didn't exist. Not that we're perfect now by any means. We're very much His work-in-progress : ) I only knew about God but didn't know Him for myself. Back then..I pretty much just went to Church because my family did and expected me to. But now it's like..I want to be there, you know? Because I can't be sustained the rest of the week if I don't go and feed up my soul with His Word. If I don't spend time with Him by reading His Word, praising, praying/talking with Him everyday, I feel empty and I start to forget His promises and His truths about me and Himself and it makes it easy for the Enemy to attack our faith with its lies.

but anyway.. have you watched the video? Man.. it's so powerful and funny at times. I've probably watched it 5 times already- it doesn't get old. Hope it helps answer most of your questions : )

Only God can judge what happens to people after they die. I don't really know. I have relatives that are atheists, and I pray for them to become Christians all the time nowadays. My sister thinks that hell is just separation from God, I hope she is right.

<STAFF EDIT>
This is the atheist illusion: giving superficial, subjective meaning to a life that, without God, is ultimately objectively meaningless. It is a necessary fiction for any atheist, otherwise life would be unlivable. But giving meaning to your life no more makes it truly meaningful than giving yourself the title "King of the World" makes you truly so. But, the alternative to living the illusion is embracing the cold, hard, emptiness that is at the end of the path on which atheism sets you. Not much of a choice, is it?

By the way, non-Christians are prohibited by forum rules from posting in a thread they did not start.

He's always been waiting. You have to make the first move.

Psalms 14:2
The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God.

Proverbs 8:17
"I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.

Deuteronomy 4:29
But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Jeremiah 29:13
'You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

The point is, that if we focus on ourselves, there is only the command to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, however, given that God calls us to deny ourselves and be more concerned about others, we should be more concerned about the harassed, oppressed and poor than we would normally be.

The purpose of life is to use your free will to return to God before death. Belief is not necessary, God is real.. do you need to believe that air is real, or water? You will return to God one day no matter what as it is the way of things, but you are entirely in control of when. When will you place value on forgiveness above all else? When will you embrace peace and silence and let what already is and always was to come through?

Why not starting with finding yourself first? Unless you understand who you are, you will be eternally confused about all the million external ideas around you. Start looking into your inner self. Only then you can come to something truly definitive.
