How long ago was this?

I remember the mayor basically telling the cops to give the rioters room to be destructive, and then got mad when they did just that. I think that the only reason why the governor didn't react sooner was because he didn't want to believe that anyone could be that dumb.

*sigh* I can't keep up with this stuff.

I'm not sure how I feel about Pugh. She was better than most other candidates, and better connected than the ones who might have been better executives, but I'm not sold on her yet.

Dealing with the police corruption in Baltimore will be a long road; however, the corruption is a byproduct of a culture that rewards and encourages bad behavior directed at the most vulnerable citizens in American society. An overhaul of the police is needed; despite the whining and complaining, reforms to racist and unconstitutional practices does not lead to blood running in the streets. And throwing a temper tantrum should never be used as a bargaining chip to demand you respect constitutional rights. I say yoke settlements for brutality to the police pension fund, that'll get rid of the refusal to report police abuse (which most police officers say they have witnessed other officers commit).
