Right after I got Saved a member of the Unification Church, started by Sun Yung Moon, came by my business to sell peanut brittle. He only wanted $3.00, but I gave him $20.00 because he told me he was a Christian Missionary. So, I wanted to bless him.

Everyone told me the "Moonies" were a cult. I just asked, "why are they a cult"? They acted like Christians and were agreeing with everything I said. He wanted to recruit me into the Unification Church. I guess he liked my zeal. He asked me to go away on a weekend retreat in upstate New York. I told him I would, but I wanted him to come to my church first. He said, "fine, that's great". I guess he figured 'no problem there'!

A couple weeks later he came, but no one in the 800 member congregation knew he was coming. I wasn't even sure he was coming. He played 'the game' in worship by pretending to participate. He raised his hands, sang, clapped, and even greeted people.

Towards the end of the service there was a message in tongues delivered from someone on the other side of the church. The interpretation came from somewhere behind us. The interpretation said, "There is someone in here trying to deceive my children. Why are you fighting me? Open your heart and I will forgive you also." I know there was more, but that's all I'm recalling right now. In response, he literally ran out of the church.

He was in charge the Unification Church missionary outreach campaign to reach our city with a population of 100,000 people. He had been a follower of Rev. Moon for 12-14 years. He also had several missionaries under him who looked to him as a leader and mentor. Yet, after that experience, he left the city. I never saw him again.

The inner skeptic tells me that that could apply to almost anyone. There are many, many people in every church teaching lies - and very few do it knowingly. They all think they teach the real thing. So I believe even if that man hadn't been present in the worship service, you would have applied that "message" to someone else.
I hope this kind of discussion is permitted here. I used to be a part of the charismatic movement, but no more.

Dont be too quick to pass judegment on it..remember the guy who wrote that cant remeber parts of the message..they could have been more specific to that person.

Plus the way the message seem to have been worded would assume its someone delibvretly misleading people...which would fit the description of that man it seems.

Well we shall see if the poster replies :) I have seen and heard many prophecies though, the specific ones tend to be wrong, and the others seem to be vague enough to fit many people. And the story is never the same when you hear the details, or hear it direct, than when you hear it as interpreted by one who wants to believe.

But I think that man would have believed the cult he was in was teaching the truth. He probably had some doubts in his mind, and when that word was spoken he felt it applied to himself.
Yet if he was not there, would someone else have fit the bill? In a large church, there are always going to be some who disagree with one point or another.
It will be interesting to hear if the prophecy was more specific than mentioned.

tyreth,

the message was specific enough to kick the deceiver out of the church, out of the city. That's all that matters. It got the job done. whether you choose to think that is God or coincidence is a matter of faith. the skeptic and the unbelieving will always try to explain it away with logic. even if the dead were to be raised in front of their eyes, they will still doubt.

If on a hot day you ask your Father in heaven for wind and a gentle breeze blows a few seconds later, wld you thank God for it or shrug it off as coincidence? The one with childlike faith who knows his Father's heart will say its God. The skeptic who walks in the mind will attribute it to coincidence.

You seem to be a bit of a skeptic:) Maybe even more than skeptic as you have announced you were a chrismatic, but no more.....I have noticed when there are words of interpertation, it reaches out and pricks the heart of the intended reciever. As you have said in a large church a message could apply to many, but when this is the case the Holy Ghost has the wisdom to allow the recievers to know whom He is directing His message to. When the message came from the Holy Ghost through my mouth, not only was the reciever made aware of who it was for , but I was also made aware of it. I trust there was no confusion when God gave a warning and one man left the service......I'd like to get back on topic and share a message that God delivered through me. In this case it was for the evangelist. The man was preaching and then suddenly froze- he couldn't do anything but stutter. Several members dropped to thier knees and began praying. There were tongues and a message. The evangelist was told that God had allowed this to come upon him and reminded the evangelist of what was required of him. The evangelist fell to his knees and repented of whatever it was that God had previously dealt with him about.

In my reading of the story, the word was made in general to everyone, and the guy chose to leave on his own, not because he was kicked out.

whether you choose to think that is God or coincidence is a matter of faith. the skeptic and the unbelieving will always try to explain it away with logic. even if the dead were to be raised in front of their eyes, they will still doubt.
The Christian uses logic too, as Paul, Peter and others told us, be ready with a reply. Intellect is not the antithesis of faith, but goes hand in hand with it. I believe in Jesus with all my heart, and I love God beyond all else. Yet I will not say that the words of men are God's words.
If the dead was raised in front of my mind, I would ask questions. Sometimes, apart from religious mysticism, people have been "dead" and risen again on their own. Ever heard of people being buried alive?
I'd want something like Jesus and Lazarus(?) where a smell was coming from his tomb because of the rotting body. There is so much more to say on this topic, but it's late and it would take too much space.

If you prayed to our Father for a cool breeze and instead a hot one blew, would you thank Him? I thank God for all things, good and bad. If I prayed for a cool breeze, I would thank Him, but I would not necessarily believe He directly caused the wind to change from what it was otherwise going to be.

Men's ears itch to hear a prophecy. I know, because I once itched in the same way. When a bad word is spoken people will ask themselves, "is this about me?" If the word is general enough, like the above one, then at least one will certainly apply it to themselves. If no-one does, then it falls to the ground.

Perhaps I can comment better on your story when you post it.

tyreth, I forgot to say that sometimes a message seemed vague to me but the reciever has later told me just how clear it was to them. So, maybe sometimes the entire congregation doesn't need to know the details- only the person to whom the message is for
Again, though, someone can easily make this apply to themselves. You say "someone here is guilty of lying to a loved one", and someone will say "I told my wife that I was going shopping, but really I went to see an old girlfriend who I was thinking of having an affair with". So for them it felt specific, but they filled out the gaps of the vague word.

Right after I was first saved my husband left and lived with another woman for awhile. When he returned he told me he was leaving for good. I was so hurt and angry I cussed! I was so sorry over the foul words that I spoke I determined right then and there I would not return to church and be a fake christian! Except, it was the night I had promised my sister I'd go to church with her. Not one person on earth knew I had said in my heart "this will be the last time I go to church because I am not worthy"...We went to church as planned that evening and after the service there were tongues and a message " you have said in your heart this is the last time you will enter into church because you feel unworthy." Now this may have been vague to some, but not to me! I thank and praise God for that message. I went for prayer and recieved the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I thank and praise the Lord that He forgave me! I love Him so much. He knows when we may need a little extra.....

Scepticism is fine to some degree. But do you believe the people that Jesus said,"I have not found such great faith in all of Israel," would have received anything had they been too sceptical? :sigh:

I forgot to mention something. The one time I went to the "Moonie" house before this happened. I met some of the individuals they had recruited on the steet. One of them name Stephen, ran into me downtown. He told me for some reason he didn't trust them. I ended up leading him to the Lord in my car.
