For starters, Adventists keep the Seventh Day, the Sabbath holy. That means we do not work on Saturday and dedicate the day to God. The Fourth Commandment is to Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. Six days shall you labor, but the Seventh Day is the Lord's Day.

Seventh Day Adventists don't believe in the Secret Rapture, and we believe that when you die, you are dead. We do not believe that your conscious soul goes to God. We believe that the dead will come to life on Judgement Day when Jesus returns.

What is the differance between a normal christian and a seventh day adventist christian?

Hi,:)

The most obvious difference is, as Mankin rightly stated, is that we observe the seventh-day Sabbath as a holy day, as the fourth commandment declares.

There are other things which distinguish an Adventist from other fellow Christians, such as our belief in the state of the dead, and our emphasis on the Second Coming of Christ and the endtime events.

Also, most Adventists refrain from alcohol/tobacco/and certain types of meat. Some are completely vegetarian/vegan. We are well known for our healthy lifestyle!

If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask!

That almost sounds like you are suggesting that Seventh-day Adventists are abnormal. Maybe you know something I do.

Its just an 14 year old asking about our believes. I really don't understand your comment.
Sorry about that. It's a pity that 14 yo are being given the impression that there are normal Christians and then there are the other Christians. All Christians are normal Christians.

To add to this list, we also stay away from caffine as well. Since it is a stimulant.

We are just like everyone else. Just normal people practicing what we feel is truth from the Bible. If you have any other questions, pleae feel free to ask! :)

I understand what you are saying :). In the country where I grew up, Adventists are considerd a cult (not just "abnormal" Christians); how about that :D. Don't get upset about stuff like that; it's now worth it and you can change people views with the LORDS help :) WWJD:idea:

What is the difference between a mainline Christian and a Seventh- day Adventist Christian?

I've adjusted the opening question so it is less offensive. :)

Answer? The Heavenly Sanctuary doctrine, the pre-Advent judgment and 1844.

Everything else we share with at least one other Christian group. That is, if you consider Mormons a Christian group (belief in a post-New Testament prophet/prophetess.)

We tried that in our discussions with Walter Martin and Questions On Doctrine. It went over like a lead balloon in most ultra-conservative SDA circles. We Evangelical Adventists are still demonized to this day for trying to bring the SDA church squarely into line with orthodox Protestantism.

Unfortunately Nutella, many TSDA's don't give two hoots about what Walter Martin thought or what mainline Protestantism thinks. They would have us wearing the badge of cult proudly if they had thier way. They revel in thier heterodoxy much like a pig in his slop, content and unaware of the mess he is in.
Forgive me Knight...using such big words has me confused! haha. could you repeat in laymans terms please. Thanks!

Sorry about that Happywiththelord. :o

Orthodox means a belief or doctrine falls into line with accepted mainstream Christian thought.

Heterodox means a belief or doctrine is not necessarily cultish, but it is not orthodox either. It is abberant but tolerated in Christianity.

No it's not like that, I've been a christian for a while but I am wondering which christian denomination I should choose to live by.
