TFW one of your best friends seems to be avoiding you for a year-and-a-half, and your handful of interactions with her have been I really miss you! and I'm sorry for shutting you out! Then you begin finding out your once near-identical interests and personalities are spreading wider and wider apart.

You know, to have a friend, you need to be a friend, and that includes replying to e-mails, messages, letters, and phone calls, of which there certainly haven't been an extreme number, but not an insignificant sum. I still think of you as a friend, but I'm sorry to say there is a chasm forming 'twixt our convictions and interests. Bluntly put, I have other interests into which to pour my time. I'm sorry to say, but the friendship we once enjoyed has become a fiction.

This consant heat is driving me insane!! I have to work when it's hot out, but when itt's cooler in the evening and I should be sleeping I can't help but stay awake to enjoy the cool.

Tell me about it. I've been trying to muster the motivation to continue working on some reading for a series on the Early Middle Ages, but it's so blasted hot....

I always wake up too early in the summer time and go to bed later. But I always forget that fact until the next summer comes.

Yeah, heat sucks. I know I've said it several times before, but I'll keep saying it until I finally get up and do it: One of these days I'm moving to Canada.

Just not here though. Last night was so hot that it was still over 90F at 9pm.

You got to see a Great Grey owl, and you got to see it hunting?!! Wow... I'm jealous. Those seem to be very rare to find in the wild. I'd also like to see a Northern Hawk owl, but I'm pretty sure my chances of seeing one of those are even more slim.

I just got back in after taking the dog out for a walk. I chaught a glimpse of an elk passing over a field I saw another one about a month ago as well. They're pretty common where I live.

Majestic animals, but you'll have to be careful if you encounter calves.

Sorry to hear that. The same thing happened to me for my 30th. I had all these dinner plans and had to reschedule them all because I was horribly sick. Hope you feel better.

Not as rare as seeing a CF Owly though. Even pictures of the CF Owly are rare. They are there a very short time and then they vanish without a trace.

Drop by my neck of the woods sometime. They're surprisingly common in my area. We always update the birder's newsgroup when we first spot the season's first, and several people have made the trip and have met with good success.

I just looked through my iPod, and it looks like I was able to snag a couple pictures of him.... Sorry for the blur... It was on zoom, and through glass.

Haha. Yeah that's right... I'm pretty sure that aside from that one picture of my hand, and that other picture of my eye, that I haven't publicly posted a picture of my actual face on here. Lol.
