I watched some of this one once when it came on tv. Guy who pretends to be Jesus with thousands of followers. The part where he descends on the hill is rofl worthy.I'm on a cult documentaries binge on YouTube lately.
My life seems so wonderfully normal now.
Thanks, I'll keep it in mindGlad you enjoyed the brief exposure you had to the languageIt's such a powerful and versatile technology.
In the mean time you could always buy a course on Udemy. On offer they're like $15-20 down from $300. They're awesome and it's something you can do at your own pace

Until you think an invasion is taking place and it's the end of the world. Thanks H.G. Wells!Listening to radio programs from the 1930s is so soothing.

I love old timey radio. I believe people still would listen to it too. I remember tuning in to the Unshackled after I became a Christian and being moved by a lot of their 30 minute programs. Much of it is listener discretion advised. And there's a reason why it's the longest running radio drama in the history of radio. It has God's anointing on it. Plus they do stick to the old time sound of classic radio.Yeah listened to that before.. even now it's kind of scary to listen too. Lol.

Oh? Shoot me some recommendations of programs to try out.Lol, unshackled was pretty cheesy.. especially trying to pass it off as modern entertainment.. lol.
One thing I find striking about 1930s radio.. is how much it just feels like 1950s television without the picture.. lol.
But there is something to say about programing that leaves much to the imagination. Guess podcasts kind of relive the same thing.

Thanks. I'm not that into PC stuff, but I'll give TLOA a go.Amos and Andy the most PC show ever, The Little Orphan Annie, lots of stand alone stories.
She wrote a great book about it
I think I may have seen her before. But seriously, most of these cults are absolutely no joke. Terrifying stuff.
Yeah, I went to a church that was cultish....
When they told me that i need to submit and not think and that my life wouldn't get better if I left the church... I knew to leave then..
Why didn't you just say the man sexually harassed females? The way you put it made it sound like he was just an eccentric or something.Yep. Scare tactics to prevent you from leaving. Classic cult behavior. I'm so glad you got out.
Only thing that I look back on and shake my head a little at is that I was taught a lot of Bill Gothard's (Institute of Basic Life Principles) teachings. Seemed legit stuff back then, but now that his 'weirdness' has come out and you stop and think back on a lot of things...it all makes sense. A lot of people have been really damaged by his stuff.

Oh yeah definately not a joke. Special place in hell for cult leaders...I think I may have seen her before. But seriously, most of these cults are absolutely no joke. Terrifying stuff.

Hmm. You implied that some of his teachings were off too? Nevermind. I just think it's interesting. I have a mentor that has referred to some of his stuff over the course of time. I didn't think any of was out there, but I may have not been paying close enough attention to it. Anyway, I didn't know he was fiddling around. I'll have to bring that to the attention of my friend and see what he says. Thanks!Gotta fill your daily 'make a jab at Miss Spaulding' quota today...
The emphasis I was making was more on his teachings that were taught over years and years and how those teachings, with or without any sexual harassment/abuse commited by Gothard, was enough to inflict psychological damage. I wasn't try to hide the fact that sexual harassment/abuse did occur.
