So you want Old Testament movies. There are some of those.Anyone else think today's Christian movies are watered down and fail to depict the reality of evil we live in? I mean, when I read thru the Bible, I see time after time where God chose to graphically show violence and brutality and he didn't spare. I wish there were more Christian movies that did this.
I just want Christian filmmakers to stop watering down their stories. So you want Old Testament movies. There are some of those.
Im more concerned with the "Hyper grace" message of most Christian movies than anything else.Anyone else think today's Christian movies are watered down and fail to depict the reality of evil we live in? I mean, when I read thru the Bible, I see time after time where God chose to graphically show violence and brutality and he didn't spare. I wish there were more Christian movies that did this.

It's not a dangerous teaching, it's the gospel.Im more concerned with the "Hyper grace" message of most Christian movies than anything else.
They all seem to push:
1) "believing" in Him..... and thats all you need. Demons believe in Him as well.... are they destined for Heaven?
2) I say a prayer so Im saved. Yes, it starts with a prayer but we still have our part to play......to take up our cross.
3) Jesus did everything so I need do nothing. Its about a relationship with Jesus.... relationships aren't one sided.
4) Faith is all you need. - Faith is vital absolutely, but faith without works is dead. For faith without works is a tree that does not bear fruit. Its not that WE do these good works that bears fruit but it is a by product of the Spirit that is within us. Just as with a tree, the branch need not worry about producing fruit, it will produce fruit because of the tree it is attached to.
If the tree is good the fruit will be good, if the tree is bad the fruit will also be bad. If it does not bear fruit the branch will be cut off and cast into the fire.
I myself am far from perfect, but I spent so many years calling myself a Christian but living like the devil because of the hyper grace message and not understanding Christianity. Foul language, stealing, lusting after the things of this world and by excusing sin. Not that I am anywhere near perfect or have I dealt with all the sin in my life..... but now instead of excusing it.... I know it HAS to be dealt with.
Not that I will EVER be sinless but I CAN reach a point where I am no longer living in sin. Only stumble into it by accident..(Asking forgiveness, moving on and dealing with the sinful issue that God brings up in my heart)... can I do this on my own? Absolutely not, on my own I can NEVER free myself from the bondage of sin that enslaves me. Matthew 19:26 However what is impossible with man is possible with God.
The "Hyper grace" message sounds good but it ignores the warnings and teachings of Jesus. Such as taking up your cross daily. Denying your flesh. Putting the flesh to death. The Narrow gate. The "Many will come to me saying Lord Lord!" and every parable about bearing fruit or good soil.
How can we call ourselves "Children of God" if we live like the devil and try to look NOTHING like Jesus and say "Its okay"?
Its a dangerous teaching that deceives many..... as was I at one point (Again, Im far from where I want to be.... but I no longer just excuse my sins as "No body is perfect" and I constantly pray that God changes my heart to see my sins for what they are and to free me from them.)
I am a15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.a]">[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
Praying to become a5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives lifed]">[d] because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because ofe]">[e] his Spirit who lives in you.
12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
Pride, ego and many things/people in the world itself are painful to let go of..... but that is the flesh that dies when we do not feed its desires with the things of this world.
I agree with this. But it would also be helpful to consider peoples backgrounds when it comes to Christianity too. All of us have different temperaments and experiences. There is a wide range of differing attitudes when it comes to people behind a pulpit. I've literally sat in services where the prevailing message was works even though they believed in grace thru faith alone. (Giving them the benefit of the doubt) Then other times I would sit thru someone preaching and the predominate thing you would hear is judgement and fire and brimstone. Thankfully, the Lord moves us to different places as he does the work of aligning our souls to Him in sanctification. (if we actively pursue to listen and follow Him)It's not a dangerous teaching, it's the gospel.
Jesus said all one needs is faith. When someone genuinely comes to the throne of grace and accepts Jesus into their life and accepts the free, no strings attached forgiveness for their sins, they are saved eternally and their names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life never to be erased.
Jesus came to the lost and the broken, he came to sinners and reached His hands out saying "Accept my grace". He came saying "Recieve my love".
Once you recieve Jesus into your life, good works will follow as the tree is then made good. Your works in this life matter very much, but only after recieving God's gift of salvation.
If you strive against this, you strive against the gospel. You've literally sang this same old song so many times, but you are simply wrong.
It is true that the gospel is so simple a child can understand it, and also true that the gospel can be accepted without fully understanding it, and the gospel itself can come just by saying the name Jesus even (God is Soveriegn and His message can come in many forms, to the thinker it can come in wisdom, to the simple it can come in simplicity).I agree with this. But it would also be helpful to consider peoples backgrounds when it comes to Christianity too. All of us have different temperaments and experiences. Just because a person chooses to live in sin contrary to the gospel doesn't make the message of the cross complicated. It's still so simple a child could follow. In fact, don't judge a belief by the abuse of it.
Haha, as long as there are no anchovies. =P
Pizza has cheese on it.
Yes you are! Someone get the crackers!I am not for eating!
NO WHERE in there did I say that Jesus didn't die for us.Perhaps I was harsh in saying he strove against the gospel, because while not completely incorrect, maybe not a good way of saying it. But yeah, I mean when you treat one of the main message of the gospel (if not the main message, that Christ died to save us and calls all to simply believe) as trash and "dangerous" and something from Satan, naturally I am going to be offended.
First of all I never said or implied you didn't believe Jesus died for us... so don't put words into my mouth or make it seem otherwise.NO WHERE in there did I say that Jesus didn't die for us.
I said that there is more than simply saying a prayer, or believing.
I didn't say it was trash and I didn't say it was of Satan... However, God has His part in our salvation.... we have ours.... which is to take up our cross and follow Christ. Jesus died for forgiveness of our sins.... as in those sins we stumble into. He didn't come to die for our sins so that we could live in a life of and remain in willful sin. Big difference.
To say that Jesus did EVERYTHING and we need only say a prayer then return to our sins without a changed heart or a renewed mind is to imply that Jesus died for our convenience not for our salvation. Its free, yet it cost Jesus everything. The followers of Christ left EVERYTHING behind to follow him..... but we are SOOOO different from previous followers of Christ because.... all this time has passed? Because we are some how better than those that LITERALLY and SPIRITUALLY walked with Christ?
To say that its all hypergrace is to ignore that God wants to change us into the likeness of Christ..... NOT to let us remain in willful sin and as a dog returns to its own vomit.
IF His purpose was for us to remain in sin.... why send ANYONE to hell? I mean IF Jesus did it all and we have no part or responsibility.... why not go that extra mile and say the prayer for everyone so NO ONE sees the wrath of God?
It's the gospel, so no.Please, just drop the debate before the mods come in again. It's not worth it.
