Have you been to Ford's theatre? I spend a lot of time in DC and have been lucky enough to tour it twice. It's sad, of course, but it's a beautiful theatre.

Um...I don't want to get in the middle of all this but IJWT I've seen Miss S pray for you many times, plus many others members. You're far more popular than me.
I only posted those prayers here cause I know some people here would relate to what I was going through, like you Saucy. It's not important to me who prays for me or even how many, if just one person prays for me I'm happy.

BTW thank you to everyone who prayed for me. I'm feeling much better and so is my mom. I'll try not to post prayer requests here again.

I can't sing as my flat mate has a hangover and is currently cursing the demon drink, so I'll post instead.

As an aside: people should post prayer requests wherever they feel comfortable. People will react as they react, and while it is unfortunate that they feel that way I would much rather people asked for prayers when they need them in places they are comfortable in (or were comfortable in) than felt they had to restrict themselves.

Slightly related: Perhaps I should be more public with my acknowledgement of prayer requests and struggling. People appreciate confirmation that you're doing something, otherwise they assume you do not care. Even if it does feel a little, tiny bit awkward posting that I'll be praying for someone when there's nothing else I can say.

Anyone can post requests here dude. Christians or otherwise. Doesn't matter.

I am similar to others. Right now, prayer is quite a private thing for me, so if I do pray for someone I typically just do it and don't really post.

Tony, "support" and "sympathy" are two very different things.

Support is praying for someone for a year, whether they're nice to you or not. It means doing something. Saying you'll do what you can and then following through.

Sympathy is fickle. It's less constant, and it's easier to give.

You crave sympathy to make you feel better, because it's a nice temporary high. But you need to get over that and look for true, honest support. Not artificial "oh, I'm so sorry sweetie" sympathy.

Moe, I just want to reiterate what others have said. You should feel free to post prayer requests where you need to.
And I hope you continue to. I'm really glad you opened up about your mom, and let us pray. I saw the post, and even though I didn't reply to you I took a moment to pray.

And that really goes for anyone. If you feel you need prayer please reach out. We're an odd little family here in Singles, but still a family nonetheless. We want to support each other.

See you have it all wrong. I literally thought my mom was dying. Not being dramatic. Not exaggerating. I asked a body of believers who I considered my friends to pray for me. I also shared, on top of that, that I was going through some other junk. I received neither support or sympathy.

Youd think someone would say, "hey, lets pray for your mom" or stop to ask how things are. And Ray, its exactly as you say...I reached out for support in a difficult time, but instead was looked at like Gracie said, as if i was trying to get sympathy, as if I just was trying to get attention.

So no, I dont think I can ask for prayer here without being treated a certain way. Certain rumors and lies have persisted about me and i do not feel as if I am a part of this family.

So i did reach out for support and received nothing. There wasnt even sympthy. My whole point was answering mehguys question and my point still stands. Being an emotional guy, im looked down upon for needing an emotional connection with others. Assumptions are made. Im called a manipulator and people assume i make crap up for attention. Because if any of you were really concerned for me or my mom, you wouldve reached out. But you didnt. And that speaks volumes for how you think about me.

And to Moe, my post wasnt an attack on you at all bro. Im not as popular as you think i am...at least in the right way. Im so glad you and your mom are doing much better. My sole point was revealing how both situations were considered and handled differently. People showed they cared about you and im glad you got that kind of support.

I almost never watch sticky posts but I saw it accidentally and prayed. Most of the time I look in prayer requests. I'll look there more often.

Mehguy I hope you were taking notes. You see, being an emotional person, you see the world differently. Your needs are different. And while people tell you it's okay that you're emotional, they expect you to keep that side of you mostly hidden. If you don't, you're labeled as over-dramatic. If you need to make an emotional connection with someone or desire them to connect back with you, you're an attention-seeker. If you try to tell someone how you're feeling, or if you're crying, then you're a manipulator.

I attempted to answer your question with an example and look what happens. I'm the bad guy again. When will that Saucy ever learn to keep his emotions to himself? All he wants is sympathy and attention.

I do try to channel those emotions into creativity. People think I'm doing better emotionally the more I learn how to hide what I'm feeling. Feelings have no place in a man's world. Everything has to be driven by logic and a cold, left-brain way of thinking. This is MY experience and I apologize if MY experience with being an emotional person offends anyone here. But more than one of you have commented on how I need to keep things to myself. You've gossiped about me to others how I'm just this way or that instead of giving me the benefit of the doubt. You made wrong assumptions instead of showing you care. And that only upsets me further because I don't feel understood.

I've made a lot of improvements in my life over the past year. Most of them were emotional. I return to CF and less than a week later I've taken a few steps back because who thought I genuinely needed prayer vs. I was just trying to get attention? And it was hurtful and it made me feel like no one cared.

Thank you William we go to see the surgeon on Monday. Please pray they have some answers because doctors have been giving us the run around and she's in a whole lot of pain. The gallstones have been messing with her liver and she has a large cyst in her brain that causes seizures. It keeps growing little by little and it's in an area they can't get to it. Scary times for sure.

Believe me, I do understand. Ive been the sole caregiver for my mom, who suffers from several chronic conditions, for 25 years now. I know what its like to have no one to depend upon. Through two bouts of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and COPD, I couldn't show any weakness.

One thing I have learned is that that while mankind may fail you, God never will. He will always be there to offer you strength even when you think there is no way to go on. God bless you, brother.
