  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The thing is you can do something about your weight what is he suppose to do about his height?

The point is that both things are subjectively 'bad' to someone while there are others that don't care about either.

(P.S. Yes I understand the irony of height difference in this picture... but the principle remains the same)

The issue I have with your use of subjectivity is you think because not all people think a certain way that its not a problem because not all think it. If 90% of people think a certain way it may not be true for everyone, but given the large percentage that do think it, it is a significant issue. Maybe 10% of women would date a man who is shorter than them, but if 90% wouldn't that is a serious problem for short men.

Right, but at the end of the day exchange that variable for another and you're bound to find the personal that feels victimised in precisely the same position of the other person in another scenario.

That's what I'm saying. It may be a bitter pill to swallow, but it doesn't change that it's still subjectivity.

Whether its subjective or not isn't really the issue. The issue is whether or not it is a problem or not. And it is indeed a problem for short men when they try to date and most of the women won't give them a chance because they aren't very tall. Likewise if a woman is 600 pounds, there may be some men who will go out with her but that doesn't mean being 600 pounds isn't an issue. Subjectivity means nothing here.

It would be like saying being burnt in a fire from head to toe is not a problem because there are people out there who seek out partners who have suffered severe burns all over their body. According to you being burnt in a fire in regards to finding a partner is just subjectivity because there are some people out there who seek these people for romance.

Eh, regardless I personally still do well with women.

For me it's not a dating issue, but a respect one.

Subjectivity is everything. Sure, some folks may draw the short straw(I promise I'm not doing this on purpose...), but what's the alternative? Someone feeling a moral and societal expectation to date someone they don't find attractive? How is that a good thing?

I think people should be allowed to date whoever they want, but either we are allowed to state our preferences freely or we aren't. But women shouldn't be allowed to do so and men not able to. Lets face it whatever the reason we like or don't like someone its all superficial. I'm not at all proposing people should go with someone they aren't attracted to, but just simply stating it really shouldn't be a problem for a man to say he doesn't like obese women, likewise it shouldn't be a problem if a women says she wants a well off, tall, attractive, interesting man. I see no issue with people saying this, and I don't get why its a problem for a man to say what he likes and not a problem when a women does so.

The Netflix show Santa Clarita Diet keeps getting better and better.

Like the mix of extreme gore and a happy go-lucky attitude.

I loved that show. I wasn't sure after the first episode, but you are right, it just gets better.

Yep its the face.

IDK I have a semitic look some like.. and some don't.. for like racist reasons..

Really though, personality can go a long way. I'm also in a niche dating market as well. And I can offer things psychologically many taller men simply can't.

Some woman once told me its all about personality. Suffice to say I made sure to never speak to that woman again.

If you ever watch the film "Frida" *based on a true story* you'll see that some people can get along fine with just personality.
