This is why I collect books. It maintains my pretense of being smarter than I really am.Books do not belong in boxes! They belong on shelves where they can be seen and admired and where their owners can be commended for how 'well read' they are. Those books have been imprisoned for long enough.
So I decided to try that Arby's BLT with the brown sugar bacon...and it was utterly disgusting.

This is why I'm reluctant to try any novelty sandwiches at restaurants. Why bother risking something I may not like? Their roast beef sandwiches are excellent, and I know I like them.I tried their fish sandwich one time, YUCK. That's why I stick to roast beef there.
Hehe... yeah, I did the same thing. I started out at a "2-year" campus, where it was actually more economical for me to buy the books off Amazon. So I still have most of my textbooks from my first few years. I actually value the stuff in some of the binders more, b/c its more condensed and all of it isn't covered in the text books.
I really need to organize mine too, sometime. There's some stuff in there which is still good to have, imo... I'm not sure if I'll ever need it, but you just can't find that info anywhere else. At least, not easily or in a timely manner.
I wonder if it matters that most of my books in my bookcase are fiction....This is why I collect books. It maintains my pretense of being smarter than I really am.
Lol... so what kept them packed away, out of curiosity? (Unless you don't want to answer that, which is understandable.)
I still keep most of my books packed away, even though I have room to leave them out. I'm sure I'll question the decision to keep them again, the next time I move. I think I've got four or five 18"W x 18"H x 36"L totes, filled with textbooks/binders/notebooks. Yeah... apart from a couple choice books, I'm not sure why I keep them.
It was like Christmas! Unfortunately, I discovered to my horror that some of my books are missing! I have been trying not to wig out about it though. They must be here somewhere! Either I will find them or I will have to purchase them again...but I am hoping I will find them.I wish I could 'like' this several times.I know just what you mean... Opening your long-packed boxes of books is like Christmas!
nothing wrong with fictionI wonder if it matters that most of my books in my bookcase are fiction .
Oh, no! Which books were they?It was like Christmas! Unfortunately, I discovered to my horror that some of my books are missing! I have been trying not to wig out about it though. I admitted to my 12th grade english teacher when she was signing my yearbook that I didn't like 1984.nothing wrong with fiction
I have learned so many important things from fiction
1984 by Orwell helped me understand the influence of language, and the all encompassing desires of Totalitarians
Macbeth by Shakespeare was a beautiful portrait of a man ruined by sin and weakness, and the burden of a guilty conscience
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Stoppard showed me that you can be smart and funny, and helped me laugh at the ridiculous nature that life sometimes has
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Bradbury deals greatly with growing up, nostalgia, temptation, and friendship
(kind of funny, those last two book titles are quotes from Shakespeare plays)
you did not like 1984?????I admitted to my 12th grade english teacher when she was signing my yearbook that I didn't like 1984.She was surprised.
I can't say I've read any of those other books you mentioned; but speaking of Shakespeare I should read Much Ado About Nothing. I found the movie adaptations I've seen humorous. I enjoyed reading Hamlet in high school; I cast my dolls as the different roles and it made it much easier for me to read the play. I couldn't read Romeo and Juliet when I tried.. perhaps its just the story that doesn't appeal to me.
I realized at some point that the Lion King was inspired by the Hamlet play.I watched Lion King last week and its making me want to read Hamlet again to compare.
It's done.
My life is signed away, the exams start April.
I like adventure, fantasy, childrens literature, classics, biography (autobiography) etc. (I can send you a pic of my bookshelf later because I'm lazy right now.)what are some books you do like?
It looks like I am missing some of my church history and theology books. My favorite book is missing as well, Spurgeon's Morning and Evening devotional. It must be found or it must be bought again. Of course if I did buy another copy the original would probably turn up.Oh, no! Which books were they?
