  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think Trump is doing a good job so far with his campaign promises. Already been on the phone negotiating for jobs during his Thanksgiving break and throughout the time as President-elect. Hasn't even been sworn in yet and getting to work.

Other countries are excited to work with us and look forward to a closer friendship they didn't feel they could have with Obama. Both Mexico and Canada have both said they're willing to renegotiate NAFTA. Companies have come out of the woodwork to proclaim their willingness to invest in America by creating American jobs. The stock exchange has reached all-time heights just out of sheer anticipation of Trump's business-friendly policies.

So where you don't think he'll make an impact in America, I think he already has and will continue to do so. If only he'd give up that Twitter account...lol

Well, talk is talk...

I never said he wouldnt have an impact..... Im just not willing to give him "greatest president ever" award as so many were willing to do to his predecessor rather than being called "racist". The man hasn't even taken control and people are saying he is going to "save us".

Obama was a disaster I knew was coming. I believe Trump will undo some of Obamas chaos, but also what he "fixes" he will also make chaos in other areas.

I truly wish both sides would work together instead of acting like a bunch of school kids. Instead of getting anything done its all:

"Its their fault!"
"Nuh, huh its their fault, they started it"
"Did not"
"Did too"
"Nuh huh"

Instead of "Who cares who is at fault.... it is what it is and its time to fix it."

Again, if he ISN'T just like any business man politician I will happily "eat crow". I doubt its on the "menu" though.

Yeah I'm DEFINITELY not on "best president ever" yet and may never be. He has so many issues, but I just don't believe all the stuff the media and Hillary said about him. They spent over a billion dollars to drag Trump's name through the mud, while he hardly spent anything, so of course the media was biased. Hillary's issues didn't exist and when Trump coughed, he did it in a bigoted, racist, hateful way.

Trump wasn't my first (or second, third, or forth) choice, but I think he will get some good stuff done. And he'll make some mistakes. I don't hold the office of president up to some insane, holy thing.

I dont hold the office holy either, but the two party system is a problem.

When people have the "team mentality" in choosing a president. I.E. "I vote Hilary cause Im a Dem." or " I vote Trump cause I am a Rep." thats a problem IMO. Its that team mentality that allows for horrible options like Trump/ Hilary.

As I said, I DO believe Trump was the best of a horrible croup of choices.. but he still sucks. Just like I did with Obama though Im willing to give the man a chance.

Yes, I say he will suck, but thats cause he is a politician its a given. I know I know "Trump is a business man!" blah..... Business man, Politician. The only difference..... one wants your money the other wants you vote. Both of them will say whatever they need to to get what they want.

Again, I think he was the best choice of a bad situation..... I just dont believe I will be singing his praises at the end of his term as so many seem to believe will be the case.

Obama - Hope and change.... yes we can! "he's going to be the best.....ever.."

Trump - Make America great again "He's gonna be the best ever!"

I see the same empty talk on both sides.... one right after another.

I wish Bloomberg had run, I didn't agree with him 100%, but he was really against the polarized political culture in Washington. I don't think he would have exacerbated it. Sadly, he didn't think he could've won, and according to him, he didn't want to run as a third-party candidate and "risk Trump or Cruz getting elected".

Yeah I can agree. Someone the other day mentioned that we should start a Labor Party like the UK has. Maybe Trump would head that party, but either way, we need someone to represent the working class.

One side panders to the poor, the other side caters to the rich, and the blue collar and middle class suffer the most from 'politics as usual'.

Wont happen........ I already put my name out there..... no takers.
I have been screaming for years and no one wakes up. Do I know how to fix it all? No, of course I don't have all the answers...... but Im SICK of doing the same thing OVER and over and over and over ad nausium and pretending the results will be different than the same self serving, buddy promoting blood suckers that ALWAYS take the white house. Nothing really changes..... you have one side serving their own and the other serving their own. Its an endless sea-saw and the American masses eat it up.

"Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Now our side is on top!"

We need some "outside force" to change things. Whether that is an independent or whatever you want to call the party.... it needs to happen........ otherwise our choices in 4/8 years (depending if Trump is a one or two term) will be that much worse.

I have no doubts though I may get what I ask for in a third party.... it will likely be the anti-christs left hand woman Hilary refusing to go away...... but...... hopefully we get enough of the devils tools leading this country once the devils hair piece Trump is gone ( Again, I will give him a chance to prove me wrong...... but til then.... he is as all the others. No better no worse)

I lean more Rep. to be honest but I detest both sides.

It honestly feels like the whole "Trump/Hilary" election was a test of intelligence in the American people.

Can anyone say honestly that these are the best and brightest both parties have to present "Trump was hated by Rep. but he was the peoples choice" Bah..... that says that the candidate they wanted to support was EVEN WORSE!

The true terrifying thing isn't that Trump will be our president. It wasn't even the most terrifying thing if Hilary were poised to take over....... the most terrifying thing is that the system is so clearly broken that the two of those jokers were really our choices........and yet people are still bickering over what "team" is better.

What happened to the real class ladies? Today when I was out I saw so many butch manly looking women around. Is this really the 'trend' now?

I used to wonder about that myself, but then I discovered they're in downtown detroit, of all places.

OMM: The autoshow here is apparently big business. Traffic has been backed up for miles. I'm fairly surprised myself after hearing so many bad things about Detroit. It's really experiencing a comeback.

Sorry to hear that Sundew, I hope things get better.
Thanks I do appreciate it.
It seems when it's this way I cannot focus at all--but it's getting better and I shouldn't fall behind too much.

One of my colleagues was surprised to hear that I'm 37, as she thought I was only about 32 and said that I don't look my age. So I'll take that as a good thing.

OMM: I broke down and went to the doc today and I'm glad I did. Turns out it wasn't a cold at all but a respiratory and ear infection. In other news the one good thing about being sick is Netflix marathons and popsicles. Plus, people who love you.
