• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

That's not enough apparently. If you've ever searched the post history of a sock account, they usually just play a word game or two to get their post counts up quickly.

It should be raised to like 1000 or more, in my opinion; a count that is usual for someone who isn't up to no good. They probably don't want to block people who want to come here for help or something, but maybe they could overrule the post count restriction for PM'ing staff? I don't know, it's just a thought.

I dunno, 1000 would be too high, it would discourage new people from using this site

I think the real reason it was started was not for trolls but maybe for bots or something?

Yeah, this just means I need to get my butt out tomorrow and go jogging.

It's nice enough to go jogging here, but I'm feeling a little under the weather again. I was sort of looking forward to going too.

Before this winter, I hadn't gotten sick for 6 years. Now I get sick twice within a 2 month period. I blame the north woods.

I'm still not sure if I want to write my next book in first person perspective, or third person.

Any opinions?

First person: I proceeded cautiously down the hallway. Suddenly an orangutan appeared and tackled me.
Third person: He proceeded cautiously down the hallway. Suddenly an orangutan appeared and tackled him.

I like the insight that first person can offer... but it might get to be too much insight. I might want to keep certain character information secret for a while. Of course, there are still ways of holding it back.

Hey The Ginger, I was just catching up on the conversation in this thread. You could limit your PMs to just contacts and moderators, there's an option if you click User CP at the top, Edit Options on the side, then scroll down about halfway, there's an option that you can check that says "Receive Private Messages only from Contacts and Moderators".

It's just a thought. Someone once PM'd me a pretty vile picture on here. It freaked me out a bit, so now I only allow contacts and moderators to PM me. I've been kind of leery of people on here ever since.
Thank You for the information.

First person is definitely easier to write, though I personally find it more intriguing...but I understand your dilemma about it. That's where the challenge comes in. You're not writing a biography 'in the first person' so there's the risk of losing the interest of the reader by accidently giving too much infortmation about the character.
