  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Claiming a religious affiliation means nothing in Academia.

It may mean something to the person - it may mean more than a label holder for the purposes of adding theistic credibility to their academic answers (for example.)

But, mere affiliation means absolutely nothing. And, we know this because scientists are humans, and many humans who claim that they cast out demons, and worshipped God will be REJECTED because they were worshipping images and beasts.
Really?
Are you sure about that?

There's a hidden identifying difference between those who claim they cast out demons and those who wont say that they did anything

What will scientists lose next?

1. They lost Amelia Earhart.
2. They lost Roanoke.
3. They lost ten tribes.
4. They lost a whole race of people, despite they leaving a city-by-city itinerary behind.
5. They lost a continent.
6. They lost gave up a planet.

Person, city, tribe, race, continent, planet ... what's next I wonder?
Interesting view of history. Wrong headed, in my humble opinion, but interesting.

First: What do you mean by 'science'?

1. Amelia Earhart's aircraft was presumably 'lost' - crashed in the Pacific Ocean, or broke down and stranded on an island in the Pacific Ocean. What 'science' lost her, and how is that science responsible?

2. Roanoke was lost by those who manned the colony. What 'science' lost them or it, and how is that science responsible?

3. The "Ten Tribes" of Israel were 'lost' when the Assyrian Empire conquered and annexed the divided nation of Israel. Since God announced His will to have that happen, one can easily assert God 'lost' them. From reading the Biblical account, one can conclude the Ten Tribes either intermarried into the native Assyrian population (including any other resident slave, immigrant or travelers within the region where the Ten Tribes were located) or intermarried into the indigenous Canaanite tribes in Israel, resulting in the 'Samaritans'. What 'science' lost them, and how is that science responsible?

4. I give. What 'race' was lost after "...leaving a city-by-city itinerary..."? What 'science' lost them, and how is that science responsible?

5. Which continent? Pangaea, Atlantis, Mu or Lemuria? What 'science' lost it or them, and how is that science responsible?

6. A planet? Do you refer to Pluto or the Earth? What 'science' lost them, and how is that science responsible? Now I think of it, what 'science' owned it to give?

Av, these questions are not well thought out. God miraculously creating a loaf of raisin bread made more sense.

If your goal was to discredit scientific endeavor, this didn't.

Scientists ... nuff said.

So according to you his sentence should read:

"The reason that scientists tend to perceive any mention of a scientist as being of the non religious kind is because scientists find the combination of being religious as well as a scientist incompatible."

Yeah, doesn't really help, infact it's probably even more stupid than it was before. Still, if you can make yourself feel better by insulting a large number of Christians good luck to you.

Im beginning to see that
And so when these "brilliant types" lose something (make a mistake) who and what do they attribute it to?

Or do they just try to cover it up hoping no one will notice
They claim failure as an inevitable part of the scientific method and then begin waxing melodic about its self-correcting advantages.

It would break up the monotony of constantly complaining about others who do.
Then it would make us no different if we demanded that we could override GOD's sovereignty

In fact it would make us worse

Imagine working and toiling and dissecting trying to find hidden information when GOD chooses to keep it hidden

Now for the mistakes made that resulted in the loss of lives

No that isn't hidden but we aren't allowed to do anything about it

I'll address this one; but I'm not going to address them all to those who routinely auto-deny things.

It becomes a waste of time ... and I find long posts boring.

Amelia Earhart relied on technology to get her around the world.

It didn't ... and science's inability to even find her shows how myopic science can be.

Don't tell me God doesn't exist (because you can't find Him with your technology), when you can't even find Amelia Earhart using her flight plan.

Anyone who doesn't see failure as a learning experience needs a serious lesson in humility.

Christianity is NOT a religion.

So if you want to play games and claim you're a religious person, don't complain if I hand you a Chick tract.

Is it?
It's actually in service to those who are wise in their own eyes

It's a tribute to the Nebuchadnezzers of this world

And a possible help for them

If I asked, "What have bakers lost? 1. The sphynx 2. the Roman Empire 3. the solar system..." you might rightly think I may just not have a clue what I'm talking about and what I'm saying amounts to meaningless word salad.

Not allowed by whom?

What do you want us to do that we aren't already doing

We havent changed
We're doing the same thing:
Reminding man that there is a GOD and that HE indeed is sovereign over all the "mistakes" that exalted men make in their self absorbed: "Look at me". Is it not by my own hands that I have acquired all these things

Not even understanding that these talents and gifts were given them because of GOD

All that a man claims as his own, even this he received from
GOD

When it's taken away, it's then that the man will either
1. Acknowledge GOD
2. Curse GOD

I suggest you read the story and dream of Nebuchadnezzer

Without question, Miknik. So was Saul on the road to Damascus. There are probably more, some documented in scripture and some not.

However, none of that has ANY bearing at all on the question posed by Av1611Vet.

I think (and AV will correct me if I am wrong), "scientists" is just a name being used to describe those who declare their wisdom/talents/abilities/gifts but do not acknowledge GOD's sovereignty in all things

Like Nebuchadnezzer

It does because the "tree" (as seen in Nebuchadnezzer's dream will be cut down

(And that tree represents exalted man)

And what exalted man does during that time (2 Thessalonians 2) will decide the fate of their souls

You're really disappointing me. In the past you have made sense; now you're just thrashing.

Have you considered pilot error? Everything worked just like it should have and she flew into the ocean negligently?

AV1611VET said:

When did I ever make the comment God doesn't exist? You have me confused with someone else.

Just so you know, I find complete ignorance and sloppy thinking boring. Neither are acceptable to God.
