  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's in your diaper bag?

Hmm...I stopped carrying a diaper bag about a month ago since Reed is pretty much 'out and about' potty trained. I have a medium sized purse with 1 or 2 disposable dipes, a tiny pack of Lansinoh wipes, one disposable changing pad (I think it's Pampers?), a itty bitty pot of Earth Mama Angel Baby Baby Bottom Balm and a ziplock with Gerber puffs in it. I can also fit my DUO baby sling in the purse because it is so small, but I only pack it if I know I might use it.

The rest of the purse is crammed full of mama stuff: wallet, change purse, keys, reusable grocery bag, emery board, etc.

I carry one small diaper bag, and have a second bag thats left in the van at all times that has a change for clothes for all 3 kids plus several sizes of diaper. That's in case there's an accident or we get all wet from rain or whatever unexpected thing occurs.

I also leave a mei tai carrier and a baby blanket in the car just in case.

In the bag I carry I have

-two sizes of diapers
-wipes
-a couple small "holding" sized toys for baby (if we go in a restaurant I hold him until the food comes and then I set him down and hand him little toys to chew on)
-a pacifier for Maya (she's so addicted, that's another subject)
-bottle with measured water in it
-formula
-wallet
-cell phone
-keys

You do not have a change of clothes for him just in case? Your purse sounds about the same size as my diaper bag! Its black!

No. He just doesn't go when we're out and even when he was a newborn, I only had one blowout while away from home (stupid sposie). Never had a leak either. I'm thinking about making him some tiny training pants soon. If I do that, I might start keeping an extra outfit in the car.

My purse is about 12" long, 4" deep and 8" high. And, yes, it's black. :)

I know what you mean, I think this is fairly typical... as soon as we get home all three kids go #2. Just one in the toilet and 2 in diapers, lol.

However, murphy's law dictates that you be prepared. ;)

I'd rather have the stuff just in case than to not have it after getting someplace that took a lot of work to be to. Even preschoolers can have accidents, so can babies.

Thought it would be fun to see the different things we carry as parents.

Mine:
Diapers (duh)
Wipes
Diaper rash cream
Burp cloth
Bottles
car seat toy
pacifier
blanket
wallet
her brush
lip gloss (yes for me)
diaper changing pad thingy
When packed for travel I take a change of clothes for each child in diapers, butt cream, diapers, wipes, a towel or two, a miscellaneous toy or two, hand sanitizer, very small garbage bags, and bottles/cups. None of my four children has used a pacifier for long, but we sometimes have one.

Hah. That must be something. Ack! All the kids are pooping at once!!! :p

I used to carry a change of clothing, and then one day, I was cleaning out the diaper bag when DS was six months old and found the outfit I packed in there when he was a newborn. We never used it.

I strongly recommend towels in the diaper bag. They are more useful than a changing pad, and you could even sacrifice the changing pad for a couple towels. We only sometimes have a changing pad... (we have several diaper bags).

Good idea! I got this changing pad thing because it holds wipes & has other compartments but I rarely use them.

Oh ,I also have hand sanitizer & wipe cloths. I use a purse too not a official diaper bag.

I'd use a towel, but he'd never come off of it, and then he'd play with it *facepalm, shaking head* The changing pad I can move him easily on and I haven't much to worry about in the means of him playing with it... yeah, he's weird. LOL

Let's see what I have...

  • changing pad
  • 1 shopping bag (cloth)
  • organic sesamini bar (sesame and honey)
  • Haba sheep grip toy
  • lipstick/lipbalm
  • comb (for me)
  • Teething ring
  • mini umbrella
  • small pencil case with 4 pens
  • snap extender for onesies
  • Mr. Tall book
  • My "Mutterpass" (Medical record from pregnancy)
  • Jonathan's pediatric medical record (both are really small, i promise!)
  • Celiac diner cards
  • found another pen...
  • Big Red Gum (YAAAAH!)
  • usu. my cell phone (at the moment recharging)
  • 5 cloth wipes
  • wetbag
  • bib
  • 3 cloth diapers
  • wipes
  • tissues
  • always ultra-thin pads
  • nursing pads
  • pacifier case with pacifier and "foldable" teething ring
  • blanket
  • winter hat
  • pants
  • socks
  • onesie
  • "müllwindel" (it's a very thin cloth to use on changing tables at stores)
I sometimes have water, formula and a drink for me... but he's not taking formula now of his own choice.. :sorry:
I also cram my sling ring in there and usually a wrap so I can nurse in public.... once in a while lunch also... and sometimes if it is an all day thing, an extra shirt for me.

LOL! Five kids and somehow I've never had a diaper bag. I always keep an extra diaper in the car (and underwear and pants when potty training) and have nursed, so I never had to carry anything around with me. If we go somewhere where I need an extra diaper or two then I usually throw them in a back pack. I always just change my kids on my sling/wrap.

Lets see:

  • Nappies
  • Wipes
  • Change mat
  • Change of clothes (usually some warmer stuff and some singlets just in case)
  • at least 3 spew rags (I have a happy chucker)
  • Bottles
  • Formula
  • A toy
  • Sling/Wrap/Mei Tai (depending on which one I want to use)
  • A plastic bag. (I always carry one of these to keep dirty clothes so they don't get everywhere through my bag).
I think that is it. My bag is SO heavy... i swear there must be more in it than that!

:) Mine has:

For Matt:
Nappies
Wipes
Change Mat
Wetbag
Rattle
Dummy
Change of clothes

For me:
Notebook
Pens
Tape recorder
Piece of fruit
Water bottle
Mobile phone, keys and wallet.

I only really use my nappy bag when I'm at uni all day. I used to think it needed to go everywhere, but now I just keep a spare nappy and a couple of wipes under the pram.
