  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Whatever happened to Joseph?

You know...Joseph, the stepdad of Jesus?
According to the King James version Joseph was only around
until just after the return from Egypt, and then there's nothing at all
about him.
I dislike incomplete histories.

I'm afraid you have to turn to tradition for the answer. Joseph was present when Jesus was taken to the temple when he was 12, and when he went missing, because both Mary and Joseph search for him.

Tradition tells us that Joseph died either shortly before or during the early ministry of Our Lord, and that Our Lady was a widow when the crucifixion took place, which is why Our Lord commended her to John's care.

I am sure someone else will know the source for this, but this is what the church teaches.

i know exactly what happened to him.....

it's blindingly obvious!

He died!!!

but that aside, he must have been around for a good few years to teach Jesus his skills as a carpenter. According to Luke's gospel, Joseph was still alive when Jesus was aged twelve.
