The next step is clear to me, the door has opened, but will not begin until next year. This is going to entail a major relocation on our part. There is so much to do at home here to prepare and some study I need to do first. My half time job is a ministry position and I do love it. I will be sad to leave and part of me would like to stay until the very end. But it would be helpful to have that time to get ready to move, sell the house and so on. It's going to be a big effort. Would you resign now and have half a year off while preparing or wait? Five months till the move.

Congratulations! You are right about having a lot to do.

I wouldn't give up the position, because sometimes things don't happen on schedule. A lot can change in five months. But your sanity is more important than your ministry here or there. Like the saying goes, at least you have your health. Value that. Getting too overworked makes people sick, and then they need time off.

Why do you have to take the time off now? Why not quit down the road, say a month from the move?
