What would happen if a Salvationist baptised someone?

A lot depends on the mindset of the officer, in the Corps, and the Divisional Commander..., I personally, wouldn't have a problem. I also know of officers who have been baptised.

I'm sure it is less of an issue nowadays, because O+R in South Africa (either that or the THQ minute, says that if you are at an interdenominational service, Salvationists are not barred from taking Communion (as long as it is grape juice and not alcohol.LOL)

I also know of corps that have either had communion (terming it a love feast) or have on special occasions - one corps I know regularly has one on Good Friday Evening. We had one at my present appointment - but very informal in comparison to the way it might be done in other denoms. (we could chat to each other, and it wasn't wafers, but biscuits!)

Thanks for that BoazB... I ask because whilst my pastor was going to do that for me I didn't really want him to get in trouble for it...

I will clarify with him that its okay, just to make sure.
I'm sure he wouldn't mind getting in trouble for it. After all it's not like they can say your no longer an officer to him seem as he isn't an officer!

In australia,
They are aloud to.

A girl at my corp was baptised at the last yits (year in the son- bible college) camp by a salvo officer.
The majors & such like are aloud to baptize & we are aloud to be baptized.

did that answer your question?
Sorry, I didnt read the other posts.
I've questioned it myself before, so yerr.

I'm just curious as to what would happen to a Salvationist if they baptised someone, in terms of what the Army would do etc.

My grandparent's officer baptized me and a few others from their church in the local lake.

I don't think it is that we don't have baptisms as much as we recognize that they are merely outward symbols of the internal change.

My church and my grandparent's church often do communion and so on.

I think that back when the Army first started, there was more of an emphasis on the sacrament than on the Saviour, hence the Army's traditional stance on them.
