  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do you need for Jesus to come back and falsify "evolutionism?" If its wrong, shouldn't we be able to falsify it without him?
Sure ... just build a time machine and go back to BC 4004 and have at it.

That evolution is a fact even creationists agree with. The theory of evolution is tested countless times a year, and has not been falsified. We continue to argue (when I say we, I mean scientists - the only ones qualified to have opinions on the subject) about the various mechanisms of evolutionary development, but the fundamentals of the theory are sound. Far sounder that any theological apologetics I've ever seen.

Evolution: all the facts are on our side.

To a point.

Then you hit a missing link that you conveniently gloss over.

Then another, then another, then another, and so on.

I once used a person's OP to calculate some 288 trillion missing links.

Just as you expect one to accept the Bible in its entirety then should you accept science in its entirety. You cannot pick and choose what you like and discard what you don't like in both!

Absolutely not.

My "religion" is Christianity, not Scientism; and I believe those two will go head-to-head with each other in the Tribulation period.

Starting with the Rapture, which is going to throw the scientific world completely off-balance and confuse scientists to no end, there will then start a series of events that defy science almost daily.

The scientific world is going to be in near total chaos; but then two men are going to step forward and put on demonstrations of unimaginable proportions, as they explain it all to them in terms so easy, a child could understand it.

This, of course, will win their approval, and when Jesus shows up at the end of the Tribulation to set up His kingdom, scientists will be frothing at the mouth to vanquish Him before He even gets started.
You cannot pick and choose what you like and discard what you don't like in both!
Yes, I can.

This is where my Boolean standards come in.

You didn't calculate anything, AV. You plugged a bunch of unrelated numbers together and came up with a completely meaningless number.

Do you even realize how big a number that is? In order to have that many missing links, there would have to be 60,000+ speciation events every year. In other words, if there were 288 trillion missing links between us and the original common ancestor, we would have had to speciate 170+ times PER DAY.

At that rate, there would have been 120 MILLION speciation events just since Jesus was alive.

No, "missing links" are false ideas created by creationists. It was never predicted that we would find every step of evolution preserved in the fossil record. In fact the opposite is predicted. Evolution is proved beyond a reasonable doubt even with all of the so called missing links.

And of course when it comes to man from other apes it was one of you guys that identified the "missing link". Of course that would be above your level of understanding.

It's actually impossible to do so in science: science hangs together as a system - failure to allow for radioactive decay, for example, has the secondary problem that you're then denying GPS satellites will work.

Religion doesn't have that problem. You can pick and choose pieces as you like - hence the existence of the 30,000 sects of Christianity.

In fact, the entire idea of a "missing link" is very 19th century, when the religiously influenced scientists conceived of the great Ladder of Life leading up to man. We now recognize that religious influence as creating a false impression. "Missing Link" survives as a metaphor and a shortcut phrase, but one except those ignorance of evolutionary theory use the term as a real thing.

So they are more or less "virtual links?"

So now scientists will be fighting Jesus on behalf of satan and evil? In a post full of absolute undiluted poppycock, you've really excelled yourself.

And what does he do with all the devoutly Christian scientists? Who do they fight for?
Ya, Sub, can you answer that? You're the one who called it 'poppycock'. Perhaps you're some kind of authority on it?

I'd love to hear your answer.

Yes ... in my opinion.

Science and scientists are trying to describe and understand the real world. What you are really saying is that you think the real world is influenced by satan and is untrustworthy - "the real world can take a hike" as you have said. This gives you a problem because the Bible is just a book that exists in the real world. It's contents are just marks on bits of paper that exist only in the real world, the one you've told to take a hike. You see the problem? As I mentioned before, your nonsensical beliefs cut you off from everything outside your own head and leave you with nothing.

It's about time.

Actually, what I meant was that the rest of your post was drivel, but this part showed something much darker and less palatable than goofy old AV161VET, the harmless fool with his harebrained ideas.

Good for them.
What you are really saying is that you think the real world is influenced by satan and is untrustworthy -
I don't need a mistranslator.
- "the real world can take a hike" as you have said.
Link, please.

I see.

Yes.

Oh, I'm sure someone will find you and others inside my head, pretending to know what I stand for.
Actually, what I meant was that the rest of your post was drivel,
I'd say that's par for the course.
