The writer to the Romans has it:

Rom 4:3 - For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

James then has it:

Jas 2:21 - Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

Suppose Abraham had believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness, but then refused to sacrifice Isaac? Does the writer to the Hebrews have the answer?

Heb 10:36 - For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

Today?

He'd probably be dead.

I suppose it's good for Abraham that he didn't live in modern times.
God set the times.
People of Yahweh Today, righteous by faith, are imprisoned, beaten, mocked, spit on, killed/martyred by the millions in the last ten years world wide.

All in Christ will receive the Promise and Abraham won't be forgotten nor neglected at all.
No matter what time someone who is God's Chosen lives,
they all have worldwide similar temptations , and rewards in Christ as shown in all Scripture.

Yes, but it might not be seen in Hebrews.... the answer is Revealed in Christ Jesus clearly, and in Yahweh's Word clearly.

The next sentence in James explains that Abrahams works were a result of his faith. Which we all knew already.

So does that mean that Abraham did have to do the will of God after his faith was accounted as righteousness or that he did not have to do the will of God?

What does Scripture say ? (I'm positive you know...) Not anyone who teaches Paul is wrong though.... they won't know.

Or maybe it is good for those, in the time these things were written, to know the correct interpretation of the words they read.

Raining cats and dogs to us today, may seem like pit bulls and poodles miraculously falling from the sky 2k years from now...

He was required to do what he thought was right in the moment. The same as all of us. Abraham didn't ask his neighbors for their unrequested opinions. Good thing?

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

James 4:17
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

Paul is not wrong. Just often misunderstood. Either through ignorance or by design.

What is "modernist American" ?

p.s. no one is comparable anywhere today to the father of faith , Abraham, in Yahweh's Plan.
We are all the same as Abraham. We are all to do what we think is right.

That sounds totally like the false gospel, and part of many many false teachings,

as it is totally against all Scripture, and opposed to Jesus, and an enemy/idol/ opposed to the Father in heaven.

We are all the same as Abraham. We are all to do what we think is right.
