Will Pope Francis be the last Pope ?

Saint Malachy's final prediction in full is: "In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”

After Francis a man who is better able to extend the full intent of the Pope vs the shallow understandings of his writings.
Our times are shaky, and so the priesthood is under attack, and many are not necessarily intending to live the understanding.

All it takes is a snippet and some run with it. We know the Protestant revolt did this with scriptures as well as the writings of St Augustine.

St Augustine's writings was drastically reduced by Calvin to the sinners prayer today, and if you sin you were never saved to begin with. How they can align the two is [their own teachings] is incredible as they jump hoops, run hurdles and then ...etc etc

I don't think it's the Pope so much as the exegesis of the reader.
I read his stuff in the conservative position, obviously others have read it according to their own preferences.

If people can misquote the understanding of the Lord, they will so as they think or want to think.

Is “Malachy’s” prophecy legitimate? Probably not. The consensus among modern scholars is that it is a 16th-century forgery created for partisan political reasons.

It's also private revelation.

The "Malachy" prophecy is almost certainly a hoax.

First, despite Malachy living in the 11th/12th century, the first mention we have of this prophecy is from 1590, the late 16th century. Now, this does not by itself mean it's false, but does shed doubt on it.

The far larger problem with it, which has been noticed by various people, is that the prophecies are very accurate and clear... up through Urban VII (1590), which coincidentally is when the prophecy was discovered. Afterwards, the descriptions of the popes are much harder to fit with the actual popes People who advocate the prophecy still try to find links between the descriptions and the popes in question, but they require much more strained reasoning than those before. This is exactly what we would expect for a prophecy manufactured in 1590.

So why make it to begin with? The general suspicion is that the whole thing was made up to try to get Girolamo Simoncelli elected as pope in 1590; the description given for the 75th pope was "ex antiquitate Vrbis" (from the antiquity of the city). Girolamo Simoncelli was from the city of Orvieto, whose Latin name is urbs vetus, or "old city". Seems to fit well. But he wasn't elected pope; Niccolo Sfondrati was elected as Gregory XIV, and the explanations offered for that are definitely weaker (e.g. saying Gregory's father was a senator of the city of Milan, which is old).

I suppose it can't be definitively disproven until Francis dies/resigns and a new pope is elected.

No. It was a private revelation. It’s very sketchy.
I know revelation must end to see if it is truth.
I have no clue or even if it has been changed...

So I don't think about it but my daughter is wondering.
I just let it go.

Yes there is no use fretting about it.

I was looking at info on this. The prophecy of Saint Malachi is thought not to be written by him he was never know as a mystic and the only prophecy he made was for his own death which is told in his friends book.He said he would die in a town in France on Nov 2 All saints day and he did.The prophecy was found by a monk and its not believed he wrote them. There were only two people who could of wrote it one wrote a book on all the popes. The other is a famous prophet Michel de Nostradamus. Some of the same mistakes appear in the prophecy as in his other text.He was not liked by the church and it was not unusual for a unknown prophet to use a important name linked to it for people to pay attention. So those who have really looked deeply at this and the time period think it was Michel de Nostradamus. The writing appears in his style also very cryptic.

So really you only need to look at the last 40 popes to see if it is authentic all popes before that were known. It funny in these last 40 popes some have even used the inscription from the prophecy in their crest or coat of arms that's not a coincident. They seem to have come true with the description.John Paul the first was described as the half moon and died halfway through cycle. There are others it almost seem like they are aware of the prophecy and how it playing out but as you know the catholic Church does not use prophecy or make any we hold the faith not change it.If you look at Francis he is in a terrible position everything is falling apart around him he is under enormous pressure to change and kinks in the armor have appeared. He believes he is the last pope and he is trying to hold the faith in these trying times. Benedict also believed this he even estimated the end based on the prophecy 2000 years plus the age of Christ he thought Christ could of been younger so the end in the Prophecy is thought to be 2027 to 2021.If its true it will happen. The end of the Roman Church is thought to be the end of papal authority where they will be forced to share it making it a completely different church. So it either happens in that time or its not true the Great and dreadful judge will come.

Papal prophecy is known of but not for the public St John the 23 made some and was visited by Jesus and Mary.A few are pretty crazy.Francis does not seem to be this kind of pope he knows the deep difficult position hes in it why asked believers to pray for him which was a unusual request from a pope.
I pray for him he is in a very difficult position unlike any other pope and hes going to have to fight to hold the faith.I would not want it.He believes he may face the the great and terrible judge along side us.

Two years time and to 2031 will tell if it true or not.

I guess if its true then the Antichrist should show up immediately. So we will see.
If the antichrist shows up I think it will be a slow unfolding. It won’t be immediately obvious.

Sorry i can't edit. The other thing to isn't that the exact pressure Pope Francis is under people don't want papal authority they want a shared authority they want a say in it all the modern worlds way of thinking. The Catholics Churches job and the Popes job is to hold and defend the faith and its under serious attack right now even by some of its own.

I’ve spent most of my life defending and advancing the claims of the Catholic Church. In fact, I’ve written nine books doing just that. And my commitment goes back much further. In high school, I risked expulsion by defying, then publicly exposing, the modernist heresies of my libertine, quasi-Marxist religion teachers. I skipped our high school prom to go on retreat with the pious old gents of our Holy Name Society.

At Yale, I became a social leper by defending the Church’s moral teaching about sexuality at the hot beating heart of the burgeoning LGBT movement — telling anyone who would listen that it wasn’t Yuri Andropov’s Soviet Union that really threatened the West so much as these young conformist preppies wearing pink triangle buttons. (Sadly, my prophecy came true.) I published op-eds opposing the Sexual Revolution and defending the unborn.

In grad school I started an alternative to our heretical campus ministry, and through our talks and Bible studies we produced multiple converts and religious vocations. My dissertation was on Catholic author Walker Percy, and back in New York City I helped organize revived celebrations of the traditional Latin Mass.

Continued below.
Catholics will have the same after PF as we have with PF.
All the sacraments will still be available, though maybe not as frequently as now due to priest shortages.

God won't deny us any blessing, as long as we ask Him for it.
