"We are the sum total of our experiences"!

Not a new idea with me. I did not originate it, but I do know it to be true.
So what does it mean to us as Christians?

Well, it means that when we enter a person's life, we have an definite and permanent affect on that life. It is therefore important that the effect we have is a positive and good one.

As Christians, we are told to love and pray for one another. If we do that we will have fulfilled our duty and obligation to one another.

In these forums, no matter the simplist prayer request, we all run to jump on and say, "I will keep you in my prayers"! Do we? Or did we lie?

No matter how well meaning, if we say we will, we need to do it. So if you are going to say it, you need to write it down on your permanent prayer list and that way you will do it. That way the effect you have on that life will be a positive one.

Excellent post Gerry!

I often think the same exact thing as I'm posting there. I remind myself that if I don't remember to pray for that person then I will be a liar. For this very reason I stop and say a prayer right there on the spot, before I even reply to it. I also revisit posts and pray again for them, or simply browse the thread titles as a reminder, and pray every night for everyone posting on the forums.

If we aren't going to keep our words then we should never say them at all.

Another way to remember them is to copy and paste the requests and save them all as one file on the computer, open it daily and pray. This can also be printed out if you want a quick and easy list of the things you need to remember to pray for.

I'm pretty selective in the prayer forum. Not to be mean or exclusive, but for that exact reason you said. I don't want to lie and say I'll pray and then don't. I've got a group of people I pray over and I stick with them. it helps me stay consistent.

I've learned to live within my limitations. not that I am comfortable in them, but that i know myself. I know everything I am not. I want to be faithful doing what I can and believe that God will increase me when he sees that I can do it. Since i started modding the teen forum I spend all my time praying for the young people here. I don't make it to the prayer/advice forum too often. When I do I go to see if one of them has posted something I would have missed in their forum.
I don't leave people out because I don't care, I just don't want to half do the job I have agreed to.
If I tried to pray for everything, I wouldn't do it. Not right now anyway.
I pray that God will make me more than I am. And I know it will happen. For now I focus on the young people that I love so much. And I try to throw a little more in as I go along.
I'm not trying to make myself look cool. My whole point in saying this is that I'm not cool. it tool me almost 30 years to just figure that out.
so I guess I'm agreeing with you.

I respect that you do not lie. However, you are not given the right to pray for a particular group only.

God said "WHOSEOEVER"- that means BOTH you and me.
Jesus said "ONE ANOTHER"- that means BOTH you and me.

God help us BOTH to understand.

Ah yes! I understand that, that's why during the day when i'm more alert I pray for the individuals.

At night if I'm real sleepy at bed time, I pray for groups in a sense, those who have posted for prayers, (that their prayers will be answered) and christians worldwide being persecuted (may God protect them, and keep them in his wings, and not let them slip away from their faith) children that are being taught to hate one another (may God forgive their souls cause they only know what they've been taught) among many other things. I don't only pray about this struff at night though, I also pray throughout the day.

Even Jesus prayed for all believers, He prayed for us as a group before any of us were ever born.

He also prayed for the apostles as a group.

I prefer to pray on line but sometimes I just don’t know what to pray on that moment and its then that I post “I’m praying” Later during the day I will start praying in tongues until I know what I want to pray for the specific person and they its easy to pray.
I really have some of the people in the prayer forum a burden for and I am carry them in pray for weeks, like ‘Dewjunkie’
